This was our first time at Schlitterbahn in Galveston (2 adults and 3 teens). I rented a VIP Beach Cabana for the day. The cabana was nice and in a good location and had plenty of comfortable seating. I also liked that it had a safe right there to lock up our valuables. My main complaint is the cabana service was HORRIBLE! I won't go into all of the details here but I will say for the money we spent on the cabana we should have had much better service. They even had supervisors coming by to check to see how the service was so we let them know, several times, about the problems we were having but nothing improved! We still got terrible service the rest of the day. The waitperson assigned to our cabana even apologized at the end of the day and said she was just spread to thin with her responsibilities.

The kids loved the rides, especially the lazy river (nothing lazy about it) and the wave river. I would go back to Schlitterbahn again but I think I would pass on the cabana rental next time.

If you are wanting to hit up a waterpark and you are already in Galveston, go ahead and go here. Its fun. But if you are driving longer than an hour to get here, go to the one in New Braunfels. Its way bigger and nicer. This one is old and it shows its age. Not alot to ride either. I rode everything twice before noon. Not too bad on lines though. So that was good.

I'm sure other reviews go into a lot more detail about the park so I won't be repetitive. The day we went the lines were not bad at all until noon and then they got a little long, so get there right when it opens and you can walk right onto the different slides. The "lazy river" was the best one I have ever been on. During one section they create big waves and its so fun riding them and getting dumped off your tube, it was one of our favorite places in the park. The one negative was if you sit under the large roof just inside the front gate there are a lot of birds flying through there, quite low at times and they were pooping on peoples beach towels and coolers so I would sit somewhere else if you want shade. I would go there again.

Schlitterbahn Galveston is a nice getaway. We visited at the end of the main season and staff and facilities were still in good shape. Much different from the original park, this park is just right for a hot Summer Day outing. We'll be back.
