“Very nice experience - Love the Pioneer House”

I just spent a wonderful weekend in the Poineer House at the Tin Star Ranch. The cabin is very rustic but wonderful.
There is a den with large fireplace, a 2 burner cooktop, microwave, small refrigerator (Bigger than dorm size - smaller than apt size), coffee pot and some pots, pans and dishes. (There is a nice outdoor grill provided also.)
The separate bedroom with king-size bed and amoire is really quaint and comfortable. The bathroom has a nice whirlpool for 2 and a walk-in doorless shower.
The cabin is made from austin limestone and logs with wood plank and stone floors. The wrap around porch with rockers is a great place for morning coffee and to wind down in the evening. Great views.
I highly recommend this for a great weekend get-away.

“Wonderful stay - pet friendly too!”

My boyfriend, my dog and I stayed here for 2 nights this past Easter weekend and had a great time.

Tin Star Ranch is located an easy 10 mile drive north of Fredericksburg and we booked "The Homestead" cabin for our stay. The rate was $179/night plus a a $25 fee to bring our dog. You have to book the place through "Gastehaus Schmidt" which is a booking service
in Fredericksburg. We found GS to be disorganized and not too helpful but it was worth putting up with them to get to stay at Tin Star.

The property itself is in the middle of beautiful rolling green hills, just right for long country walks. Our Homestead cabin came equipped with a kitchen, 2 bedrooms (one bedroom even had a jacuzzi tub for 2), 2 full bathrooms, a living room with a big wood burning fireplace, and a covered porch which had a gas grill. It was decorated in a rustic but nice style - like something you would see in a Ralph Lauren ad. The floor was large terracotta tiles covered here and there with indian style rugs.

The owner met us when we arrived, gave us a hand with our luggage and showed us the features of the cabin. When we needed more firewood, we just called them and they brought some by in about 10 minutes. Otherwise, they just left us alone to have a relaxing, peaceful stay.

Coffee and packets of sugar are provided but that is IT so you need to bring food and beverages with you. (the kitchen is stocked with utentils, plates, etc.) There is a HEB grocery store in Fredericksburg as well as a WalMart (with grocery section) but those are both a good 13 mile drive back into town so make sure and stock up on everything you think you will need before driving out to Tin Star.

Last but not least, our dog Sascha loved it there. We were able to go on long walks with her and the roads were deserted so there was no danger in her getting run over.

We would definitely like to return!

“great getaway for couples and families”

We stayed at the Tin Star Ranch for our honeymoon this February and had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Settler's cabin which was totally rustic yet very clean and well maintained. It was so romantic, especially the whirlpool tub where the water comes out of the wall. The fireplace was great and there was ample amount of wood and starter for us.
I can't say enough about the owner. We got a chance to visit and they are very down to earth and helpful. We will definitely return and highly recommend this place if you like to be out away from it all. Very private and beautiful.

“Rustic Charm and Relaxation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2006

We just returned from our weekend away at Tin Star Ranch. This property is wonderfully secluded, about 12 miles north of Fredericksburg on 370 acres. There were 5 rustic cabins in one smaller area of the property, complete with walkways between each of them. They are far enough apart for privacy but close enough to be ideal for alot of families wanting to get together.

We stayed in the Frontier Cabin, which is at one end of the cluster of cabins. These are definitely rustic cabins, but they are very comfortable. This one has a great porch for watching the sunset, a huge whirlpool bath and king size bed in the bedroom, a great big shower in the bathroom, and some kitchen items (microwave, small fridge, sink and coffee maker) in the living area. They have central air and ceiling fans for the hot summer months. They provided wood for the large stone fireplace, and they have gas grills at each cabin for bbq'ing. This cabin is definitely only for 2 people (some of the others are much bigger).

All in all, we really enjoyed our trip and would gladly return for some more R&R. You can find them online at www.tinstarranch.com.
