“Something Different”

When in Fredricksburg drive the Willow City Loop. Two things to remember. One, Don't be in a hurry, it cannot be safely driven at more than 20 or 25 mph. Second, Don't drive it on a heavy tourist weekend (it will feel more likr a freeway traffic jam). Go on a weekday or very early in the morning. Well worth the trip.

“Love the Loop!”

Great way to really really see what Texas is like. Get off the main roads and imagine what ranch life is like. This scenic loop takes you through private ranch property. We enjoyed it in October. We hear that it is awesome during wildflower season.

“Pretty drive if you have time”

I rated it average because texas is in a drought and there were no flowers! If there is a drought, there won't be any pretty flowers along the drive. Basically you will be seeing a country road with some pretty views. You are going about 25-30 mph since there are loose livestock...so if you don't have time..I wouldn't suggest it to be worth it (unless there is no drought).

We took this route in order to go to willow creek and eat at Knot in the Loop which I HIGHLY recommend. The burgers were really tasty too! DEF use the restroom while you are there..you could be in there for an hour if you wanted with all the things to read along the walls. It is very unique saloon/restaurant!

“Gorgeous! What a drive!”

Scenic, rustic, beautiful, just a few words to describe the Willow City Loop.

Only 10-15 minutes up HWY 16 from Fredericksburg, this drive is a must see if you are in the area from March 1-Memorial Day. The drive down IH-10 to get to Fredericksburg was memorable. My wife and I saw MILES of bluebonnets, sunflowers, and indian paintbrush along the median and in the hills.

This was nothing compared to the beauty that awaited us. Here you will find fields upon fields, acres upon acres of wildflowers, some stretching (LITERALLY!) as far as the eye can see. There is also a nice little creek that runs through the area that showcases some nice little waterfalls along the granite. There's also a breathtaking curve that reminded me of some areas of Colorado where you drive along and the ground drops away to reveal a valley. This valley contained more of nature's beauty that made us stop the car.

Shutterbugs, professional photographers, families on a drive, you will all love this wonderful drive. Another plus is, YOU decide how long it lasts. My wife and I stayed for about an hour, but could have stayed longer or left sooner if we chose.

Keep in mind, people live out there. DO NOT drive down the private driveways and stay on the Loop.

“THE LOOP IS GOOD, KNOT ON THE LOOP IS BRILLIANT!”

This would be a beautiful drive if you could time it for when the blue bonnets are out, unfortunately, due to the drout, we did not see them, but it was still a nice scenic drive. This is close to Ferdeicksburg and gets you out into the real countryside. We stopped at a bar/restaurant called "Knot on the Loop" which is in a lovely setting way out on its own amidst the wild flowers and fields. The lady in there is chatty and very welcoming and everyone takes their cameras into the restrooms to read the quaint signs! If you want a pleasant drive, finished off by good company, stop by for a burger and a chat.
