“Do not stay here unless you enjoy being insulted”

I had booked to stay at this hotel. On checking in I enquired if a larger room could be available as my wife was a Diamond member.... Do not do this.....The owner Leena Gandhi was then aggressive argumentative and interrupted most of the time. I advised her I would step outside the hotel for five minutes return and perhaps we start again. On returning I was met with ...you have come back then."...And continued to state how guests are wrong most of the time......with this I asked to cancel my room and was bombarded with ...oh as you cannot have your own way so you are leaving......What makes matters worse is that I have contacted the Hilton group and they advise me they do not monitor this hotel and are not aware of the statements on this hotel site....it is left to the owner and managers to self regulate.

Room Tip: Do not stay

I am sorry that there was a misunderstanding. Diamond Members no longer recieve free upgrades on rooms. This is now done by using points to purchase an upgrade and is based upon availability upon check in. Our property only has 5 suites total. And at the time of your check in no suites were available.

“Clean, comfortable room, staff lacking some common courtesy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

The room was clean and the beds were fairly comfortable. It was cold outside and there was snow on the ground, and the sidewalks were a little icy, which the hotel should have warned about. I had to call the hotel a couple of times- making reservations, getting directions, etc. The reservations person was a bit curt and unpleasant. The person that I called for directions was nice, but didn't seem to know the area very well (considering Ft. Stockton is a small town with only a couple of main roads, her lack of knowledge about the area was surprising). Eventually got directions and missed the road to turn off into the hotel because there wasn't any signs pointing to the road and there wasn't any lighting there showing that there was a road. Just kind of had to guess at it in the dark.

“A Bed in West Texas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We stayed here on our December 2011 Christmas Road Trip through the Southwest.

OK, it's a Hampton Inn, and it's well positioned in the middle of West Texas. Fort Stockton doesn't see to have much itself, but it's the only town of any size for a loooong stretch in both directions, so if you need a place to stay, it will do.

Our room had 2 queen beds, and the usual desk, internet, flat screen TV, tub/shower bathroom, etc. We slept OK, but the beds weren't as comfortable as other similar properties we had been to on this trip. My wife tried to do a lot on the internet while we were here, uploading photos and such, and she said the (wireless) internet connection was very very very slow.

The breakfast buffet has a robust array of hot and cold selections, and it was welcome, given the skimpy breakfasts we had had at some other hotels.

Getting there is a bit awkward; It's right off I-10 but the entrance is actually on the I-10 access road, so if you are new to Texas and their crazy access road layouts, drive with care or you may miss the entrance and be aimed right back onto I-10 again.

“Internet is fixed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I am writing to update my previous review of this hotel. It seems like it took forever but I am pleased to report that the hotel has invested in some more internet bandwidth and I am quite pleased with the speed of the internet at this hotel now. I am able to conduct business as usual now. Thank You.

“Not Like Other Hamptons”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

I have logged 31 stays in Hilton properties this year, mostly at Hampton Inns for business. I have never had a major complaint until staying here.

We could literally hear every step taken by the people above us and the water draining down through the water pipes sounded as if someone were showering and flushing the toilet in our bathroom. The only thing I can figure out is that perhaps this property was once a different hotel that doesn't invest in proper noise insulation because I have never had this problem at any other Hampton.

The noise kept me up until after 2am and kept waking my 3 year-old up throughout the night. I know I could have asked to switch rooms, but transferring all of our luggage and waking my child all the way up in the middle of the night seemed like too much.

Check in was a drag, because the young lady at the front 1) took a phone call as I was checking in that lasted almost nine minutes 2) didn't know how to handle a pre-paid reservation and ended up charging my credit card a second time (still working through getting this resolved).

Bathroom cleanliness: black material on the toilet seat (not poo) and a pube on the soap dish. Enough said.

This was the sort of stay that almost makes me angry enough to switch over to another hotel chain (I'm considering Marriott or Intercontinental Hotels).

I will try the Candlewood the next time I am traveling through Ft. Stockton.

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 203! The water draining from above room will keep you awake even if you use...
