this is one of the worse motels/hotels we stayed at.. roaches are hiding everywhere.. we got a weekly rate and 4 out of the 7 days we were there we had NO hot water.. finally on the last night i asked what was the problem, they said the owner was not going to hire a plumber,.,. me and my room mate wanted to get showered and shaved for the trip home the next day so we asked if we could fix the hot water heaters.. after being led to them it was scarey! the fuse boxes had wire sticking out everywhere.. it was damp because the washing machines there and was just nasty.. we got the hot water heaters working and had hot water at 11:30pm.. only to wake up at 5am for work the next day.. she told us if we came back we would get a great discount..ok i fell for it.. i came back and made small talk.. are the hot water heaters still working? yea she said and i said ok, well you told us about a discount and she said her boss sees everything she does and cant give us a discount now... WTF!.. ok, i was tired.. i paid my 45 bucks and went to bed.. it was a constant drama staying there...something always going on.. roach motel for sure!

Unfortunately, we didn't read the review from 27 Oct 2008 before we stayed at the Grumpy's: We made absolutely the same bad experience.
Additionally, we had do change the room, because the air condition didn't work properly in the first room. And the other room was in the same bad condition!
And I've forgotten a memory stick in the computer of the motel. I emailed the manger, and he promised me to send it immediately to me, but I didn't receive anything.

We are long-time patrons of the annual Chilizpiel festival in Flatonia and look forward to it all year. We've stayed at Grumpy's the last 4 of 5 years, and while not a luxury hotel, was always clean and comfy...EXCEPT this year!

This past weekend's stay was sooo awful, we will never stay there again. Upon turning our room light on, many roaches scooted across the floor and walls, the toilet and tub were black with mold and appeared not to have been cleaned in very long time... Coffee machine and pot were caked with previous guests' leftovers, although not sure how they drank coffee without any cups? The sheets appeared to have been slept in before, wrinkled and questionably clean... Jeez...

While there were several big signs advertising "Under New Management" on property, believe us that New does NOT equal better!
