“Very Nice and Hospitable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

Great, clean hotel. It's new so everything is updated and fresh. The cookies in the evening are yummy! The only downfall is that using the fitness room is like being in a fish bowl. It needs some blinds on the window and door. In the evening, when all the construction workers walked through withe their beer, they would stand and stare while I was on the treadmill. It was so uncomfortable I quit going. While this is not managements fault, it could be fixed.

“Overall a pretty nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights when visiting family nearby in Cross Plains.

PROS:
Affordable rates with a AAA discount. The staff had a pack and play for our one year old. The staff was very friendly and they have a nice free business center and our boys enjoyed the indoor heated pool and hot tub quite a bit. The room itself was very nice as other reviewers have mentioned. In our room, there was a divided sitting area with a door in between it and the bedroom so that we could put our one year old to bed early and not risk waking him up with the 4 year old, who slept with us. Nice wooden floors and comfortable furniture and beds. Having young kids, we appreciated the convenience of having a sink, microwave, and fridge handy for snacks and meals. There are lots of food options close and convenient to the hotel. The staff was very responsive to our requests.

CONS:
There were a few minor annoyances: first, there were black crickets EVERYWHERE when we stayed -- in the toilet, near the doors, and smashed along the carpets everywhere -- probably not a lot that could be done about that, but it tended to dampen the decor a bit (which was otherwise very nice). Second, the breakfast was not really up to par -- the fruit seemed like it was several days old and not much of it was palatable (except for the sausage links, which were admittedly tasty). My wife said the waffles were not bad. Third, the curtains in the bedroom do not wrap fully around the sides of the window, so there is still light coming in from I20 -- more like sleeping in the big city than a small town like Eastland (if you like completely dark rooms, you'll not want to be facing the interstate). Finally, the last gripe is that the place seems to be a hangout for locals -- several pickup trucks were parked out front blaring music on the two nights we were there - made it tough to haul our luggage back and forth since they tended to park right in front of the entrance.

OVERALL:
Despite these gripes, this was a pretty solid hotel and overall, we would stay here again. For a budget hotel, I'd give this 3.5/5.

“Everything was perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2010

This was my first visit to Eastland Texas La Quinta. The property was new and clean. The check-in process was easy and a real pleasure. I arrived around 8 pm and the attendant was cheerful and happy to see me. Later as I walked through the lobby, she asked me if everything was fine with the room, another little hint that she appreciated my patronage. The rooms are the right size, the desk was large enough with plenty of electrical plug-ins for my gizmos. The flat panel TV worked great and the picture was clear. The AC was pretty quiet and no annoying rattles. There was nothing wrong with this room period. The room was quiet and smelled good. I will stay here again if I return to Eastland.

“Great Stay - Best La Quinta Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2010

My family and I were moving to Louisiana for my new job, and this was our half way stopping point. I had never been to Eastland before (just a little to the east of Abilene on I-20) so didn't really have any preconceived notions of what this hotel would be like. That being said, it completely blew me away with how nice and comfortable it was. The beds were the perfect blend of firm and softness for a good night's rest, the hotel staff was exceedingly friendly, the breakfast, while simple, was quite tasty (make your own waffles is always a happy find too). The room was very well appointed (nice furniture, great bathroom, etc.), with my favorite feature (after a long day on the road) being a black leather recliner that was ridiculously comfortable. Add in the fresh baked cookies in the evening, and it was a great stay. One word to the wise about the town - Eastland is small town America and after about 8 pm, the sidewalks are rolled up - leaving you with only fast food as your meal option (there is a Mexican restaurant that closes at 9:30, but we got in about 9, so I didn't think we would have enough time). All in all, a great experience.

“The Most Hospitable Hotel Ever"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast was more than we expected from a "continental" breakfast. They added eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and biscuits/gravy! The price was right for this kind of hotel, and was worth every penny. The hotel had easy on/off access to the Interstate. We definately will be back!!
