“Great room and location plus my dogs were welcome!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

The staff was very friendly and welcoming although maybe they run a little lean with only one person at night. We were in town for weekend festival and the hotel was full both nights. We travel with our dogs and I was so thankful the hotel allows for full size dogs. Thank you, thank you!!!! My dogs are better behaved than most young children so this is always appreciated. The room was adequately sized for two adults and two large dog kennels. The breakfast was sufficient and I liked the location in relation to the cute little town. I will definitely stay here again next year for the Old Rip Fest.

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

I have been staying at the La Quinta since the end of February due to business. I love this hotel! The staff is very helpful and friendly. They greet me by name when I check in every Monday and always have warm cookies waiting for all guest. The rooms are very clean. I had to stay at another local hotel one night and could not wait to get back to La Quinta. I have recommended this hotel to several friends.

“Get Me Out of Here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2011

I'm a road warrior traveler and have spent 9 weeks at this hotel since May.
The positives - decor color scheme is nice, parking is convenient
The negatives (oh, where to begin)...
The front desk never seems to be staffed and they don't pick up the phone. Some try to be friendly.
Gym is a great disappointment. There are three cardio machines, however only the treadmill has a power cord and is functional. No idea why the eliptical machine and bicycle are not connected to their power sources, so those can only be used manually without programming.
Bring your own disinfectant wipes for the gym equipment.
Breakfast couldn't be cheaper (and I don't mean that in a good way). The plastic utensils are the the cheapest the hotel can procure and don't be surprised if the medium-heat eggs melt your fork. The fruit is anything but fresh and the sausage couldn't be greasier. (What I would give to have a Marriott in Eastland).
The rooms are dusty (part of being in west central Texas).
This week I had to take a roll of toilet paper from the public restroom on the first floor because none was put in my room for two days and each of the three times I went to the reception desk, no one was there. I did, however, have 5 bars of soap left in my room.
The washing machine makes my whites grey.
On weekends, guests with children tend to leave their kids in the gym or pool areas as a substitute for day care. Good luck finding the parents.
The television reception is horrendous. LQ advertises that they provide HBO, but you need to turn up the volume all the way on that channel and even then you barely get sound. And that's only when there's not an outage. In the past 9 weeks, there's yet to be a day where all of the channels worked.
The wireless internet is a disaster. Good luck getting more than a bar of signal strength.

“Very Nice and Hospitable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

Great, clean hotel. It's new so everything is updated and fresh. The cookies in the evening are yummy! The only downfall is that using the fitness room is like being in a fish bowl. It needs some blinds on the window and door. In the evening, when all the construction workers walked through withe their beer, they would stand and stare while I was on the treadmill. It was so uncomfortable I quit going. While this is not managements fault, it could be fixed.

“Overall a pretty nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights when visiting family nearby in Cross Plains.

PROS:
Affordable rates with a AAA discount. The staff had a pack and play for our one year old. The staff was very friendly and they have a nice free business center and our boys enjoyed the indoor heated pool and hot tub quite a bit. The room itself was very nice as other reviewers have mentioned. In our room, there was a divided sitting area with a door in between it and the bedroom so that we could put our one year old to bed early and not risk waking him up with the 4 year old, who slept with us. Nice wooden floors and comfortable furniture and beds. Having young kids, we appreciated the convenience of having a sink, microwave, and fridge handy for snacks and meals. There are lots of food options close and convenient to the hotel. The staff was very responsive to our requests.

CONS:
There were a few minor annoyances: first, there were black crickets EVERYWHERE when we stayed -- in the toilet, near the doors, and smashed along the carpets everywhere -- probably not a lot that could be done about that, but it tended to dampen the decor a bit (which was otherwise very nice). Second, the breakfast was not really up to par -- the fruit seemed like it was several days old and not much of it was palatable (except for the sausage links, which were admittedly tasty). My wife said the waffles were not bad. Third, the curtains in the bedroom do not wrap fully around the sides of the window, so there is still light coming in from I20 -- more like sleeping in the big city than a small town like Eastland (if you like completely dark rooms, you'll not want to be facing the interstate). Finally, the last gripe is that the place seems to be a hangout for locals -- several pickup trucks were parked out front blaring music on the two nights we were there - made it tough to haul our luggage back and forth since they tended to park right in front of the entrance.

OVERALL:
Despite these gripes, this was a pretty solid hotel and overall, we would stay here again. For a budget hotel, I'd give this 3.5/5.
