We stayed here on our way to colorado this summer. We were a party of 6 adults and had 3 rooms. We were really surprised at how nice this holiday inn was. The rooms were large and very clean. The beds were very comfortable,with lots of comfy pillows. We were a little worried when we saw how many people were checking in with pets that it would be stained and filled with pet odors but never even detected a whiff of this. The breakfast was enough to get us started for the day with standard continental fare and a waffle machine. It is conveniently located on the main highway and a Walmart is just across from it. The check in was fast and the counter girl was friendly and happy to give recomendations for dinner. We stopped here again on our way back and had the same pleasant experience.

I don't want to sound bitter but I am in a bad mood due to interrupted sleep. This hotel must not have one ounce of sound proofing! It looks nice and the rooms are large but buyer beware. I was awakened at 2am, 4am, and again at 6am due to the people above me and next to me. They were not loud, just doing normal things like walking to the bathroom and taking showers.but you could hear every footstep and when the showers come on it is like you have the water pipes in your room. It isn't just the noise level, the staff is unfriendly. On check-in at 8:30 pm the front desk area was empty. I thought someone would come but no, I had to say hello to empty air.. Some came from the back, no smile, and replied with "yes". Duh! I mean really, whatever happened to "may I help you"? The room itself was fine except for the crumpled photo copied piece of paper that listed the TV channels. Plenty of other hotels here in Dumas, I will be choosing one of them the next time

Stopped here for a one night break while traveling from Houston to Boulder. This is a good choice, since it is convenient to Highway 287 with easy access. We like it better than stopping in Amarillo with less traffic around the Hotel. We were puling a UHaul trailer and there was plenty of parking that accommodated the SUV and trailer. The Hotel is new, the rooms are fresh and clean and the sleep quality is good. The free breakfast was adequate. The outstanding thing was the service the lady managing the breakfast bar was giving. We had two disabled persons with us and she helped them every step of the way, even accompanying them up the elevator and to the room.

We had two rooms, one of them being an accessible room. We were on the second floor and the accessible rooms are right across the elevator. The location of the Hotel is far enough away from the highway that it is very quiet, so any room location is very good.

We had stayed at this location previously on trips to Colorado and New Mexico and it was an okay property, albeit a little pricey. This last stay however, September 11, 2011 has seen the hotel slip considerably. The front desk clerk was snotty and after having been in business for 35+ years, I know that this is not the way to fame and fortune. The AC was loud and would only cool to a certain temp and then cycle off. I have pity on Holiday Inn because Texas temperatures at the time were 100+ degrees. Still, the machine was not working correctly and the room was too warm for sleeping well. Breakfast was awful. How can raisin bran be allowed to go stale? That's hard to do considering there are zip-lock bags. Rather than have seven breakfast items that are cold, unappetizing and tasteless, why not have three items that are well-prepared? I'd gladly settle for that. And no I didn't contact management because I was pretty sure of the reception I would get from the front desk. I gave Holiday Inn Express the chance to get it right (or so I thought) on the return trip, staying in Childress, Texas. Great front desk and check-in. Lovely people, lovely staff. Dingy, dirty room and worse breakfast. These places were great when they were new but now...
