This property reminds me of the Hotel Bel Air, if you have ever been there. Small, intimate, eclectic with a feel that is more like stepping into a large guest house vs a resort or hotel property. It resides in Turtle Creek which has lovely trails nearby and is close to shopping but not within walking distance. There truly is not alot to do in the immediate vicinity of the Mansion, but a 5-10 minute drive will take to you to the best shopping Dallas has to offer. The staff is helpful and attentive and the restaurant is very nice. Since Dean Fearing left years ago, it has never been the same.

I think this is a wonderful property but for me, the Ritz Carlton Dallas is by far a better choice as the staff, the rooms, the restaurant and the spa really left a lasting impression.

We stayed over holiday week at the Mansion. Within 1 day it seemed that EVERYONE on staff knew our name and was more than helpful. Every need was immediately attended to. Hotel is quiet, very clean.
Added advantage of free limo service to downtown restaurants.
We wouldn't hesitate to return if in Dallas area.

I enjoyed every aspect of this property, and I look forward to returning soon. The check-in was flawless; the service (and food) at both the bar and in the breakfast room were great; my guest room was very well appointed and had all of the creature comforts of a 5 star property, including a sound bar for an I-Pod, etc. My only complaint, which would not prevent me from returning, was the bathrooms. It seems that while the property put a lot of money into a hard and soft remodel of the lobby and guest rooms, nothing was done to remodel the bathrooms, which had a late 80's appearance, and harsh fluorescent lights. I also experienced the problem with hot/cold water noted recently in another review. Bottom line, the guest room bathrooms seemed incongruous to the design of the actual guest room.

I have wanted to stay here for years and was somewhat worried that this hotel property was past its prime. My worries were unfounded because every aspect of our stay was glorious. The valet staff is the most efficient and professional that I have ever seen. The desk staff and concierge were welcoming, professional and accommodating. There was fruit, cookies and hot cider at the front entrance and a warm fire to enjoy in the lobby. We spent a lot of time in the cozy hotel bar and we received outstanding service. We even spent New Year’s Eve there and were impressed by the way the bartenders and servers handled the large crowd. Our room was very nice and I will say one negative thing – the bathroom is in severe need of updating. That being said, it was large with double sinks, large soaking tub and an old school showerhead with plenty of water pressure – nice! This hotel is located close to downtown with all it has to offer, Highland Park and Oak Lawn and their unique shopping areas, and some of the best restaurants in Dallas. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant during our stay, but we did order room service - the best burger that I have ever had and very nicely presented. We cannot wait to stay here again.
