This is a property that I have returned to for many years only because of its location.
The good:
The front desk staff has improved in many ways and seems to have learned that being friendly and helpful is a better option than rude and indifferent. Four stars to the staff for the improved attitude.
I will also give the housekeeping staff a positive review for the basics of the room cleaning. They also have improved significantly.
For the first time in all my stay’s I was provided with a bathrobe in the closet. However the first time they cleaned my room I never saw my robe again.
The bad:
This property is directly adjacent to a major freeway. The road noise can be challenging.
My room had a soil mark the size of a dinner plate in the living room. This is a maintenance issue and I cannot fault the housekeeper. The management needs to shampoo carpets regularly. Toiletries are the most basic and I would recommend using your own.
The SPG club room is sad. During my stay, someone twice, set off the smoke detector while cooking toast. You are advised to leave the hotel using the stairs. Many people not knowing it was a false alarm trudged down the stairs. This room is monitored by a very attentive staff member who has been there for several years but he is working with an old setup!
Room Toilet’s are very sensitive. I seem to have problems with them every time I stay.
Elevators are supposed to be keyed off to the floor with your room key. I found one elevator required the key the other did not. This has been like this for years. One of the elevators also has been on its last legs for several years. The doors take a long time to close and the marble floors are cracked and poorly maintained.
The rooms need to be re-done as many guest have mentioned you cannot open th closet doors because the bed is so large for the space in the bedroom.
Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the Freeway!!!!
