“Hotel Palomar - an oasis in Dallas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I was in Dallas for business trip and decided to try the Hotel Palomar due to it bieng close to my scheduled appts. I was a little taken by room price, but decided to give it a try. When I first walked in I was greeted by laughter and activity in the lobby and quickly asked the desk was there a convention? He responsed no, just our complimentary happy hour. What a nice surprise. Desk service was quick and pleasant as I was off to my room after grabbing a glass of wine. Room was large and comfortable and most importantly clean. It felt more like a residence than a sterile hotel room. Bed was extremely comfortable and I had a corner king with sofa and ottoman that made me feel like I was sitting in my living room. Now the true test. I ordered room service for dinner. I figured, like most hotels, this would be their demise. Not only did my order arrive within thirty minutes, it was fresh, hot and very good. The fries were so hot and fresh I had to wait for them to cool. When was the last time that happened with room service? Mini bar was well stocked. Overall a wonderful stay and I won't hesitate to stay again. Same level of service and amenities as a Ritz or Four Seasons, but wth a very comfortable and home like experience.

“Comparable to a 60's MOTEL...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I've never been in a Motel 6, but this is what I'd expect. From the porcelain white tile entry to the room and bathroom with FILTHY grout, to the sliding bathroom door that was too heavy to slide, the CHEAP, outdated TV... the FILTHY, fingerprinted TV cabinet... THE NOISY room through the outdated OLD windows, in BOTH rooms we saw. Yes, we complained, and yes we were given a second option before racing away from this supposed 5 star hotel to a true 5 star hotel, the Mansion on Turtle Creek. The only part of the other reviews here that is true is, there are a LOT of employees in the lobby. Why? There are probably 15. Advise... Go to the Mansion... See what class in staff really looks like. Oh, and the 2 guys behind the desk. The manager was very polite, but he was training a new kid that was clueless in a wrinkled blazer and shirt, and the shirt was a TUX SHIRT, cotton, black buttons, un ironed, no tie (on with of them, actually). 5 star? Not quite.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view if you do stay here to avoid the heavy noise of Highway 75.

“Amazing EVERYTHING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Just returned from our girl's trip to Dallas. For the first time, we stayed at Hotel Palomar, and it was truly amazing!! Everything was top-notch from the valet, check-in, room service, happy hour, to the free car service! I just can't say enough about this place. The complimentary happy hour was great after a long day of shopping and roughing it at Northpark! ha! You won't be disappointed! Ask for Eloy the concierge....he was awesome!

“Love All Palomars”

Ive stayed at the Palomar in Dallas and DC. Both hotels offer excellent service, and top notch accommodations. Wouldn't stay anywhere else. The Kimpton chain rocks.

“Fantabulous stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Beautiful outdoor pool, whirlpool & sundeck, well equipped fitness centre, outstanding staff and clean, comfortable rooms make this hotel great value for the price. (Seriously, the concierges are amazing.) You're right across the street from light rail, two blocks away from a supermarket and an easy drive to downtown.

The small thorn to an otherwise supremely perfect stay is that the hotel is beside a freeway, which you will hear at night if your room faces the freeway. (I think odd-numbered rooms 1-15 on each floor face the freeway; and as far as hotels beside freeways, the noise isn't that bad - sort of a white noise.) Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper or ask for a pair at the front desk.

Self-park is $10 a day; consider parking in the alley or one of the side streets behind the hotel if you don't want to pay for parking.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the freeway can be noisy.
