I had the unusual (for me) experience of checking out of one hotel (the Hilton Anatole) and checking in less than 10 minutes later to another (Marriott Suites Market Center). And oh my, what a difference a 1/2 mile makes between these two competing hotels. The only reason this hotel should carry the Marriott brand rather than the Fairfield brand is that this hotel has the higher end tile bathroom and stone countertops, rather than the more plain / inexpensive tile floor and plastic surround bath, and formica countertops. My room was generally old, tired and smelly, and lacked the fine details and cleanliness that I had just walked out of at the Hilton Anatole down the block. I think my corner room at the Hilton had more floor space than the suite at the Marriott, which was probably the equivilant of one and a half small rooms. The mattress was older and thin, and the sheets were stiff.
The Marriott Suites Market Center is definitely at the bottom end of the "Marriott" branded ladder, and I wouldn't consider staying there again absent a full and complete remodeling.
I stayed here for 5 nights while working in the Dallas area. I like that every room is a suite, and they all have two new flatscreens (one each in the living room and bedroom). Each room also has a refrigerator, and I think you could get a microwave upon request. Parking is self-parking and uncovered, but I think it might have been free. Fitness center is decent enough with several cardio machines, a few weight machines, and a little room off to the side for streching or free weights.
The only complaint that I had was that the service was just okay. One night I picked up a steak on my way home from work, and called down to ask for a set of silverware with a steak knife to be sent up. I was told it would be up "right away". 20 minutes later, I went down to the restaurant to get it myself, but could not find a hostess or anyone to help me there either. I ended up eating my cold steak with a plastic knife and fork. Also there were a couple of times when my room was not serviced when I returned from work (which was fairly late in the day), so that was annoying.
For MR members, unlike other Marriott Suites that I have stayed in, this hotel had a concierge lounge, but the food was not spectacular.
Stayed here for a week while in Dallas area. Hotel was very clean and staff was very professional. The housekeeping service was very good and kept my room clean and very comfortable. The club lounge was very comfortable and breaksfast / evening snacks were well presented and tasty. Parking at times can be a bit of a strain but it was free and not really enough to complain about. My wireless internet seemed to slow down in the evenings. I had a room facing the highway and even with that, the highway noise wasnt as loud as I thought it would have been. Overall, i would stay here again in a flash without hesitation.
Stayed 1 night at this location and the room was fine. Only one complaint I have is that the lighting was very dark or dim. The bed was very comfortable and the staff was very attentive to our needs. We had to switch rooms twice as the rooms that they kept giving us (supposed to be non-Smoking) you tell that someone had smoked in the room due to the way it smelled when you first walked in. The room we finally were given was wonderful with no smoking smells at all. There was a wonderful Buffet in the Hotel Restaurant off the lobby that we enjoyed the next morning and they had a Starbucks coffee shop were we purchased great Starbucks coffee. The room was clean and served our needs for the family wedding. We found the location easy to get to as well right off of Stemmons near the Trade and Apparel Mart. I would stay in this location again based on the great customer service and the staff's willingness to meet our needs. I give this hotel a very high rating for our needs.
