The moment you arrive, you know this is going to be a good experience. The warm, friendly staff greet you and help with your every need. Got a question? They're happy to answer it. Need something you don't have? They're happy to supply it. Don't want to look around for a place to eat breakfast? They supply it, and it's good, too. Not only that, but you can pick up free popcorn and all kinds of snacks in the lobby. Need to check your email or confirm your reservation up the road? You can do that too with the computer in the lobby. Located just off the highway, you'll notice the trains that do go by, but that's life. I didn't find it to be all that aggravating or inconvenient, and, although I did hear them, it certainly didn't keep me from getting a good night's sleep. Don't let the trains keep you away; this is the nicest place to stay, run by the friendliest people, and you'll hear the trains no matter where you stay in Dalhart.

Been staying here for 30 years on my way from DFW area to Colorado. Always has had the best, friendliest managers. Always had good food even before it was a Best Western. Yes, there are trains and highway noise, but folks, this is the West and work goes on here. Best value anywhere and the nicest people. If you can't handle these values, then perhaps you might need to chose another route.

Do not recommend! Were told upon arrival that it as mostly construction workers and quiet. Construction workers yes, quiet not. We checked in at 9:00pm noise did not stop until well after midnight! Rooms next to us and outside. Manager says we should have called them, construction workers would not know who complained, RIGHT, they were on each side of us and above us - tell me you want a bunch of construction workers mad because you complained? It sounded like they were "rowdy" enough as it was, didn't want them anger at us! Parking - there is none!it does come with a full breakfast which we left at 6:00 am we were so frustrated about not getting much sleep after a 15 hour drive, so can't tell you if the food is good or not. I do not recommend this motel for anyone traveling if you want sleep. Don't expect the manager to understand he just thinks we all are dummies!
I highly recommend the Best Western in Clayton NM. It was a nice QUIET place to stay with wonderful host and hostess.

The room was pretty good, although the bathroom was rather cramped. Free WiFi was nice. Breakfast was OK.

The reason not to stay here is the heating/AC unit. While there is noise from nearby highways and rail lines, the REAL noise comes from the heating/AC unit. Since our stay was in March, we needed heat rather than AC. With Heat and Low Fan, it sounded like there was an airplane in the room. With Heat and High Fan, it sounded like there were two airplanes in the room. Making matters worse, when using the Heat mode there was no Auto setting, so the unit ran all the time. I talked to the desk person and she said she would talk to the manager and call me back, which didn't happen. Probably nothing to be done anyway.

Ultimately, we chose to turn the unit off and use all the bed covers.
