We actually ended up not staying at this hotel due to the rudeness of the only staff member we encountered. My husband and I were traveling home from Branson, MO and needed to stay one night in Carthage on the way. When we asked if any rooms were available, she said with a very rude tone "what kind of room". We tried to tell her we would take anything available but preferred a non-smoking king. She interrupted everytime we tried to answer, and eventually gave us a choice of a Jacuzzi King or non-smoking with two doubles. Either would have been fine for the night, but after she was so rude, we said Thanks but we will try somewhere else. We went right across the street to the Holiday Inn Express where we were greated by friendly staff, a very nice outdoor pool and hot tub, and a bed so comfortable we accidently slept through breakfast.
My family and I recently stayed at this motel as a midpoint between our home in Little Rock and our vacation destination, Galveston.
Any small town would be proud to have a motel like this. When we stayed there in June 2008 the staff reported that the motel was built 12 years ago and renovated 2 years ago. Our upstairs room was clean and in good repair. There was a faint smell of tobacco in our non-smoking room, but I ceased to notice it once inside. There was a small refrigerator and a microwave. The shower was clean and had a fancy shower head. The heat and air unit had a digital thermostat - much above the average for an in-room unit. I was able to take advantage of a $70 government rate ($79 with tax); much less than the standard $87 rate.
This motel exceeded my expectations.
We really enjoyed our stay here at this Best Western. The rooms were very clean and large. The beds were quite comfortable. Very pleasant motel in every way. Smaller but very clean swimming pool. Their desk personnel were extremely cordial and when we arrived a day early they even honored the low rate we'd booked for that extra day. They had a nice complimentary breakfast in the morning consisting of rolls, toast, cereals, biscuits and white gravy, bacon, juices, coffee and the like. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.
