I'm a hotel snob. I travel to Palm Springs every other month and originally am from Los Angeles, so when I traveled to west Texas recently, I have to admit I was surprised to find a five star lodge. The lodge was so peaceful and my morning run was like a religious experience. The service and wine were amazing. At night the quiet was like nothing I had ever experienced. If you want a get away where you feel refreshed and not stressed and can see forever looking out at a sunset that's only obstruction are the far away mesas, this is the place. The rooms were spacious, the food service is just getting started, since they are looking for a chef, but the ambience makes up for it. The vineyards are just getting going too. I can't wait to go back and check on the progress of the lodge. The locale is not near a beach or mountain, which I usually prefer, but the remoteness of the location was almost empowering. It was liberating to know there are still places in the world where you can actually get away from it all, but still have cell service. The spa will open in the future too. I can see a yoga retreat taking place here.
