First let me say that I am a loyal Hilton Honors member and stay at Hampton Inns regularly for work. My story goes like this. I was trying to book a room at the Hampton Inn in Corinth, MS. For some reason they were booked so I looked for the next closest which happened to be this one at Pickwick Dam. This appeared to be about thirty minutes from where I was working, but I booked it anyway because I like The Hamoton Inns. I could have booked right accross the street from where I was working, but I opted to drive just so I could stay at the Hampton Inn.
So as I was getting ready to leave to catch my flight from SC I decided to call the other Hampton Inn which I originally tried to book. Wouldn't you know it they had a room. Awesome, so I booked it knowing that the NORMAL cancelation policy is 6P on the day of arrival for every other Hamtpon Inn I have ever stayed at. Anyway, I called to cancel and the lady who answered said they have a 24 hour canecelation policy instead of a 6pm policy like all the other Hampton Inns. She refused to cancel my room without charging me for the night and there was no exceptions! This was at 9am in the morning so I asked her if she could try to sell my room to someone else. She agreed. Nontheless, I still got a bill from her so I guess she didn't have anyone else reserve a room all that day.
I understand policy, but for a loyal corporate traveler a little help would have been nice. I even had my corporate travel department call her and she still refused. She doesn't realize how much business she just lost her hotel because I will never recommend this Hampton to anyone ever!!
The hotel may be nice, but her CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!
