“Overpriced”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We chose Jameson Inn during our trip to visit family for Thanksgiving because we had previously stayed here three or four years ago. I realize things change but still did not check the reviews prior to making reservations. OMgosh! The first room that we were assigned was an adjoining room. When my husband checked the door to make sure that it was locked, the dog in the other room began to bark and did not stop. I could hear the owner trying to calm it, but to no avail. We requested another room and were assigned to another one. The carpet in both rooms was very dingy. The linens look and smelled fresh and the furnishings were okay. However, there was a ring under the rim of the toilet and paint and wallpaper were peeling. It was very cold in the room and when we tried to turn the unit on "high" it did not work. We could only use the settings for low heat or high cool. The front desk offered to change our room again but by this time my neice who was traveling with us was asleep and I was in my pajamas. Also it was after 1 am and we had driven over 6 hours, so we decided to stay for the night. When we woke the next morning, my husband called the front desk to see if we would be charged for canceling the other night of our reservation and was told that we would not. We moved down the street to Staybridge and was upset at ourselves for not staying there in the first place. We did not eat breakfast, therefore, I could not comment on it. The staff was very accomodating. For the amount that we paid, this was so not worth it.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Very accomodating staff, facilities low end 2 star at best.

Surprisingly, this establishment still allows smoking, and unfortunately has that stale smoke smell even in the non-smoking rooms. My first non-smoking room was very musty. When I requested a change in rooms the staff was very accomodating. My second non-smoking room was better but not great. When I went to the desk to formally check in to the second room, the staff accidentally put me in a third room. That turned out to be a good error. This room was fresh smelling and had no hint of smoke. I think that this might be because it was a handicapped accessible room that has lower traffic.

Furnishings in all three rooms wer very stark, plain and low end 2 star in nature and were quite uninviting. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was no noise from the neighboring rooms.

My room was on the back side of the building and looked out onto the backside of the fast food establishments on the next road over. The view was not a problem, but the semi-trucks re-stocking the restaurants woke me twice during the night. The HVAC system was also quite loud, right to the edge of being too loud to sleep, but not quite.

Breakfast was very poor. Biscuits and gravy - whatever that is, looked disgusting; cereal and waffles. All carbohydrates, no fruit, no eggs, no meat, no cream cheese, etc. Breakfast took all of maybe 5 minutes to cook and eat a plain waffle.

Finally, this is an extended stay establishment and the unpleasant long-term vibe was quite strong. I can never put my finger on it, but extended stay places all have that same strange feel. The long term guests were at the front desk, in slippers and nightwear, every time I needed assistance. They seem to love the place. Not exactly a problem, but not exactly what I want to be dealing with when I am on business and in a hurry.

I will be in Oak Ridge on business on a routine basis, but I won't be back here.

Oak Ridge is a very nice small town, I suggest the various attractions and museums focusing on the "Oak Ridge Story" from WWII, especially the American Museum of Science and Energy, which was especially inviting.

Room Tip: Handicapped room was less musty than the other rooms. Rooms on the back side have semi-tractor nois...

“Wonderful long weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

We stayed at the Jameson Inn, along with our friends, J&C, over Labor Day weekend. We were warmly welcomed at check-in by Sherry, who proved to be an invaluable source of information and right-on recommendations. We were able to get rooms on the same floor, a few doors apart. The hallway had an unpleasant odor of stale cigarette smoke but, once we reached our rooms, it was not a problem. Our room was on the small side, with a really small bathroom. On the positive side, it was immaculate, the bed and pillows were most comfortable and the air conditioning was far better than most. Our stay was certainly worth more than we paid through Priceline and it will be our first choice anytime we return to the area.

“Fantastic rest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We stayed here after an arduous trip and it was amazing. The beds were fantastic and the breakfast was delicious. Our only complaint was every morning around check out time, the cleaning ladies would loiter in the hallways and were quite loud. Other than that, the front desk check in staff was awesome! Clean hotel! Pool area wasn't fantastic but it served it's purpose.
