“Okay for a one-night stay.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2007

We needed a room for a late arrival and an early departure, so we didn't want to spend a lot of money, which we didn't here. The Ramada Ltd, is OK. We were greeted promptly and courteously by the front desk. I had requested a quiet room on an upper floor, but was given a room on the first floor facing the parking lot. The room had a strange smell, perhaps, carpet deodorizer? The towels were very, very thin. I noticed cracker crumbs on the floor between the bed and the nightstand. The complimentary breakfast was very minimal--cereal, toast, bagels, coffee, tea, and juice. The strawberry jam had a strange test. There were no fruits or yogurts. If we stay in this area again, I will try another hotel, rather than returning to this hotel.

“Great value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2007

This place is a terrific value. On arrival the clerk (hotel mgr.) welcomed me by name. She had noted the out of state car tag and made a point of having the booking paperwork already completed when I came through the door! I've traveled all over the world and stayed in some high class hotels but never had that occur before.

My office booked my reservations and the rate charged was $38.00. That was for a room with a king size bed. The hotel has inside corridors and all rooms have balconys or patios. My room was on the first floor. It had an corridor and a patio door. The patio opened to the parking lot. It had a high enough fence between the patio and lot that as a women traveling alone I was not afraid.

The room was very clean. The bathroom was very clean; no trace of mildew or mold. The furnishings were older but serviceable. I have back problems and was afraid an older bed might not be comfortable. However, it was fine and this hotel was very quiet.

I did notice the odd odor others have talked about. I am an engineer. I believe the odor is hydraulic oil from the elevator. When it burns it smells bad and needs replacing. I only smelled it in the lobby and halls;not in the room.

The indoor heated pool was fantastic. It was bathtub warm; almost a hot tub. The pool is visible from the check in desk so a woman alone would be safe there at night.

The free continental breakfast was good. The usual bagel, donuts, cereal, oatmeal, fruit lineup. Considering the price of the room this was a bargain.

The staff was very attentive. I stayed four nights and never did I walk by the desk without being greeted and asked if everything was OK.

This hotel is under new ownership/management. They are in the process of renovation. During the next year all rooms will be redone, the lobby updated, parking lot sealed, pool area retiled.

This is a convenient hotel for Knoxville, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and travelers to Asheville. There is a new NASCAR track being built nearby. Several shopping/entertainment centers are scheduled to start construction soon within a couple miles. I have requested my company to make my reservations at this hotel whenever I am in that area.

  • Liked — warm, indoor pool open late
  • Disliked — lack of fridge and micro; however renovations under way will remedy that

“No frills, but a great value!”

I thought this hotel was a great value. It was clean and tidy and offered plenty of space. The elevator smelled a little funky, but it worked fine. I REALLY appreciated the staff's freindliness and courtesy. We arrived late, and the gentleman was very kind. Also, my van's "Service Engine Soon" light came on, so we had to take it in. This put us a couple hours over check out time, but the lady did not charge me any extra (which I really appreciated). It looks very classy on the outside....slightly dated on the inside, but not much. I would definitely stay there again. My room was only $48, which is very cheap for that area.

“pretty gross”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2006

My church takes an annual trip to the area, and on our last visit we stayed here, only because it had a pool inside for the kids. The halls are dark and kind of creepy, like you might see in a scary movie. The place is old, and in awful need of updating. The pool was old, celing tiles rotting and falling down, lights busted out, etc..... If I were a representative of Ramada, I would pull my brand from this place. It was just gross.
