“Everyone is so friendly!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

I wanted to post what a great stay we had!! Patrick, Stephanie and Melissa, were so friendly and nice to my family and I while we stayed, Patrick was wonderful when my father and I checked in, Stephanie gave us great back street directions to the wal mart and mall, and Melissa was so sweet whenever we came up there, so nice to talk to her. Everyone really gave us great attention and care!! The facility was wonderful, we had a great time playing in the game room, playing racketball was an absolute blast, and we really appreciated the work out room! Thank you so much for making our stay comfortable, If we ever go to Knoxville again it will be to your Holiday Inn!!

Room Tip: we liked the 2nd floor and the back entrance,

“Standard Holiday Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Traveled through the area on business and needed a quick pit stop and this was the victor !! The reception was very polite, pleasant and proffessional with my check-in already printed and available ... I was awarded a room on the second floor which was perfect for me as it was in close proximity to the fitness center & pool also located on the second floor ... The pool had a little more of a chill to it than I cared for in December but I made up for it in the hot tub ... I found the room to be very clean and tidy with what appeared to be some new renovations. The entire bathroom looked to be brand new and the bed had a very cozy new mattress and bedding ... No free breakfast, even for a Platinum Member, but I really don't recall Holiday Inn's offering that if a restaurant is attached anyway ... Besides, I like Shoney's and there was one at the next exit ... All in all it was about what I would expect from a Holiday Inn .. I would return if I happened to be in the area ...

“Not Worth the Rate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Our recent stay at this hotel was due to a last minute family emergency. The room itself was clean and comfortable, nothing special but probably standard for Holiday Inns. The reservation desk was not particularly welcoming or helpful but it was late and we needed a clean, comfortable room. The main problem with this hotel is that they do not offer any sort of complimentary breakfast. I thought this was standard with Holiday Inns. This was not mentioned at check-in so we were surprised the following morning when there was only complimentary coffee. The rate was high; with taxes it was well over 100.00 dollars so it was a very poor value for what we received.

Room Tip: Unless you encounter a helpful person at the reservation desk, this is probably a moot point.

Thank you for staying at the Holiday Inn Knoxville West. I am sorry we did not meet nor exceed your expectations during your stay, but your comments are very helpful to us in addressing our service issues.

I am also sorry that you are under the impression that all Holiday Inn's offer a complimentary breakfast. The full service Holiday Inn hotels have the option of offering this as a special amenity since we operate restaurants with table service. We offer breakfast to our Platinum Level Priority Club guests in recognition of their loyalty to the IHG brand. You bring up a good point, however, in that this should be clarified at check-in. I am sure many other travelers are under the same assumption as you, and it is never our intent to surprise our guests with hidden fees or charges.

I hope you will stay with us again if your travels bring you through the Knoxville area. Ask for me personally and I would be happy to take care of you.

“Good Not Great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

Stayed here last week after booking through priceline. Bid 68 and got the room. Its in a good location near knoxville and oak ridge, lots of places around to eat/shop. Its a big hotel. Nice lobby, pretty good amenities. Indoor pool, fitness center, business center, lots of meeting rooms and offices and such.

Room was very good. Clean, lots of towels. Newly renovated with updated flat screen tvs, microfridge units, desk, several chairs, lots of pillows. Free USA today in the AM. Didn't have any problems with the room. Slept great.

Fitness center was pretty decent. Has a few treadmills, a bike, a decent all-in-one machine, and a tv. I was able to get a pretty good workout in early in the morning. It is a rather small room so you will be crammed in there if someone else is working out at the same time. Also, the walls are all see through so there isn't any privacy and everyone walking down the halls can observe you. Not bad though. Indoor pool and hot tub right outside of the fitness center. Pool is very small. As I mentioned the place is huge. It was very easy to get lost in. When I checked in one of the elevators was down so I had to do a lot of walking to get to an elevator and then get to my room on the 5th floor. It took some exploring to find my way around to find the quickest way in and out of the place.

My only issue with the place is that there is no free breakfast. I have always been under the impression that all holiday inns offer complimentary hot breakfasts - but it must only be at the express locations. This place has a full service restaurant attached to it, which is very expensive. I asked and was told that breakfast was 12.99. To hell with that. I told the clerk how every holiday inn i've ever stayed at had free breakfast why not this one, and she had no answer(she was still working on figuring out the English language). I asked for a free upgrade or voucher so I didn't have to pay 13 bucks for a continental breakfast and they refused. Bummer. Not a deal breaker but just another hassle when traveling.

Otherwise the place is pretty good. I would say 3.5/5 stars.

Room Tip: do not stay on the first 2 floors - very noisy with the lobby and maintenance areas
