“Not impressed”

our company had it's christmas party there what was suppose to be dinner and a 2 hour cruise turned into dinner and a 30minute cruise the generators went out just as we started to cruise so they took us back and plugged us in. The food was good but not all of the staff were friendly. Some of them were down right rude. our server was russell and he was great but the others were short and then right in the middle of our rewards this blonde staff member with braided pigtails took the mic and said it was time to leave. I hope this is not the kind of business you run.

Robin-

We do apologize for the technical difficulties you experienced on this cruise. We did however leave messages and emails with the affiliate who booked the cruise. Along with an apology we offered another event free of charge. The details were sent many weeks ago and we did not hear a response from our contact person. If you speak with someone at your business regarding this matter please tell them we have tried to make contact to make amends in a timely manner and to please contact us. Thank you.

“Christmas Dinner Cruise - Not Many Christmas Lights Not Much of a Dinner”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

We were offered a 1/2 price deal and that is about what it is worth. Typical buffet fare: rolls with butter, mixed veggies, very soft green beans with small pieces of bacon or ham (?), mashed potatoes, very dried pork and carved (at the buffet) roast beef that was a little tough. The potatoes were good after I put au jus on. Also was the only person from our table that spotted the horseradish sauce that was partially hidden under the pre-carved pork warming tray. Dessert was a good size piece of cheesecake. Coffe, tea and water came with the meal.
I was expecting more Christmas lights to be on display, but was greatly disappointed.
Woman's lower level bathroom was out-of-order and you had to go up the stairs to the open 2nd level (very cold)
The only outstanding aspect of the whole cruise was the staff. Our waitress was very attentive.
Most definitely would not recommend it to our friends or do it again ourselves.

“Enjoyable River Cruise and Nice Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I took a group on the Knoxville Star Riverboat on Sunday, June 12, 2011. It was a beautiful day and a very relaxing day. The buffet was good and people enjoyed it. The only bad thing was that the Knoxville Star charged my credit card twice for this transaction. I had a hard time getting it straightened out. However, I would do this luncheon cruise again.

“Music too loud”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

Music was too loud for conversation. Some of the employees seemed less than enthusiastic about working there...standing around texting etc. On a positive the servers were nice and the food was very good. On a scale of 1 to 10......we would give this a 3.

“!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It only gets better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Recenly got hooked on being on the water again after several years away. I cruised on the Star of Knoxville over 10 years ago and it was very nice, my how things have only gotten better. I have made a total of 8 cruises on The Star in the past month and a half and I am convinced it is a wonder escape and way to unwind. Nothing better for an escape during the middle of the day than a lunch cruise, it is a wonder escape for an hour and a half and for around $20.00 bucks it takes the stress of the day and makes it all go away. The deluxe dinner cruise is well worth the price of admission to borrow a phrase as be it live entertainment or Tim the D.J spinning the tunes it is very relaxing. My favorite cruise is the Wednesday night Murder Mystery as it is never the same killer and the clues are presented by the crew and always leaves you "who done it". For my money $30.00 bucks is a bargain as I would only think what I would spend for dinner and entertainment elsewhere that has such a relaxing enviroment.

I read a review that mentioned the cruise on the back side of the homes of Sequoah Hills and the belief you would see the same just the front side of the homes instead. Unfortunately if you were to do that and spend $3.50 a gallon for fuel and stop and go and stop and go in traffic and still have to cook or pay for dinner you have missed the point. THE VIEW!!! I have never had a bad meal as the food has always been well prepared, fresh and more than enough. It has always been very enjoyable and different depending on the cruise. I am a great cook myself and could not prepare a meal like this in my opinion.

Lets not forget the thing that always makes me come back time and time again. THE STAFF. From the moment you call to make reservations be it Angie or Vivian that answers the call my call has always been very professional and there attitude is very upbeat and feels like a conservation with an old friend. From the moment you board Captain Angie greets every guest with a smile and a kind word (unlike Al Capone who used a kind word and a gun) to make you feel like you were home. Upon boarding you are always lead to your table with a real table cloth and real dinner napkins and the glasses are set with a little card with your name to welcome you aboard. Mary is wonderful with a smile and a laugh that will brighten any day. Katie is stunning and always eager to fill your glass and attend to making the dinner an enjoyable event. C.J. and Jackie can make any drink and any day memorable and always served with a smile. The deck hands are alway smiling as you pass and the feeling is one of being with family.

There are a lot of things to see and do in Knoxville and a lot of ways to spend your money, but I have found that there is nothing better for a restful evening or just an escape for lunch than the Star of Knoxville. Just a tip check out the Fall Foilage Cruises that are comming up its a wonderful way to see Knoxville's riverfront and rumor has it there will be a Halloween Vampire Cruise, based on the way the staff takes the time and the attention to detail they put forth the only way you could beat this cruise is to spend the evening with Vincent price, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee and a special guest appearance from Lon Chaney. The Sunday Blues Cruise with the West Side Cats was wonderful as well.
