Located a few miles north of Watertown, the Dakota Sioux Casino provides a "one stop" getaway for folks who want to eat, drink, do some gambling and stay the night. The facility was recently expanded (and existing portions remodeled), and on the whole, all areas are neat, clean and up to date. I did not gamble while I was there but here are my impressions of the other areas:
Hotel - The rooms are clean, modern, comfortable and quite. Beds are not terrific, but above average. The TVs are extremely out of date (27-inch tube style) but there is a decent selection of channels as well as LodgeNet pay-per-view movies. In-room Wi-Fi is free and worked flawlessly.
Dining - Not so great. The weekend buffets (seafood Friday night and prime rib Saturday night) are a poor value, with limited options of extremely average food at high prices ($19.95 + tax Friday, $17.95 Saturday). A similarly overpriced Sunday brunch is also offered. A deli / grill offers an la carte menu of sandwiches, salads and deserts but you can still plan on dropping at least $10 a meal there. In terms of both price and quality, I would recommend avoiding the on-site dining and driving into Watertown for your culinary pursuits.
Lounge - This is a nice little section of the facility that is set apart from the gaming floor and has plenty of seating, a good sized dance floor and a nice stage. A very good band was playing but the experience was marred by bad, "tinny" sound from the P.A. system. The drink selection is good and reasonably priced.
Service - Overall, no complaints except again for the dining area, where buffet stations often went unmanned for long stretches while diners waited for a slice of prime rib or the food selections to be replenished.
