Had a reservation at this hotel. I cancelled it at least 2 weeks prior to arrival date. I was still charged on my credit card for a night's stay. When I noticed I'd been charged I immediately called the hotel. Of course you cannot talk to the General Mgr. They are always "out" or work different hours. So far I've called the hotel at least 3 separate times, still no resolution. Their attitude is that it's not their problem, even though their employee failed to cancel my reservation. Extremely POOR customer service.

The woman working front desk was very rude when I checked in. Nobody there was of much help. My bed was dirty when I checked into it and there was a used condom under the bed skirt. By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.

I stayed here with friends because there were no rooms in Yankton when we decided to got to Riverboat Days. It's only 23 miles away from the hotel and a pleasant drive. The hotel is not new or fancy but staff was friendly and rooms were very clean and comfortable. The pool was clean and open till 11:00. Breakfast was slim pickins' but enough to get you started in the morning. Vermillion is tiny and feels very safe. We went for cheap and convenient and took advantage of the deli in the grocery next door. There are beautiful river views a few miles away and a place called Spirit Mound that Lewis and Clark visited. I walked to the top of it twice (only 1/8 mile) but awsome trail with ID markers showing the native prairie plants that have been restored and information about the Native American legend of the mound. I found it interesting. We plan on staying again next year.

My husband and I made a stop in Vermillion on our way across the state, and decided to stay at the Comfort Inn, since it was localized centrally within the town. What a pleasant stay! The room was open, and the decor was simple but well done. What was very cool to see was that the hotel had real artistic prints framed in each room, numbered and signed (which is different from the nondescript posters that are so often framed in hotel rooms). The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. What was the gem of the room, though, was the bathroom-it was larger than the average hotel bathroom with a really nice glow in the lighting (Hooray for no harsh light!), and the shower was always plenty warm with great pressure: the towels were even a little plush.
The hotel pool and hot tub were very clean and good temperatures. The only thing that was perhaps a bit undesirable was that the breakfast room was only about the size of a hotel room, so squeezing in there in the midst of the continental breakfast was challenging (Fortunately, our room was 2 doors down from the breakfast room, so we grabbed and went back to our room to eat it).
The hotel was right next door to a large grocery store, which made dashing out to buy forgotten items a snap. Another neat feature was that the hotel guest guidebook in the room had a map of the town-this made it nice for sightseeing trips!
If I am ever in the Vermillion area again, there is no question of which hotel to stay at.
