“Many recent improvements”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

We had stayed at the Travelodge in 2007 and had a decent stay back then. We found ourselves passing through Spearfish and decided to stay once again. It appears that the rooms have had some improvements since 2007, such as new pillow-top beds and fridge and microwaves in the rooms. I took a photo of our room (room 123). The swimming pool is gone and there is a large open area in its place, which would be nice in summer. The room was clean and quiet, which was important to us. There was a basic breakfast in the morning. A good value for what we paid.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Kansas Street seem very pleasant (rooms 121-125)

Rayman50402, thank you very much for your review and for staying with us in October. We see that you are one of our repeat customers and we welcome you back. We are happy to read that you observed lots of improvements we have made for the better. We are glad you were able to book one of our south-facing rooms that offer a nice relaxing deck to enjoy. Many of our repeat guests like those rooms, particularly in summer when there is a nice garden to look out upon. Many of our other rooms are booked in advance as well - we offer substantial variety in our rooms, whether they be rooms with vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans, quiet rooms, rooms with a residential feel, etc. Please feel free to contact us at the hotel anytime your travel situation has you coming through Spearfish or the Black Hills.

“Not too bad, but somewhat pricey for what you get.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

The room was somewhat small but quiet, pet-friendly and clean, and in a nice neighborhood. I did think that it was somewhat overpriced for the area.

Thank you, Bern666, for staying with us last month and for your kind review. We are happy to see that you were happy with your stay, mentioned your pleasant room and enjoyed our quiet neighborhood, which is near Spearfish Creek and the biking/pet/jogging trails that flank the creek in town. We do try our best to keep our prices competitive with other hotels with similar offerings in Spearfish. We are continuing to make improvements to our property throughout the winter and spring, so that our guests can have a comfortable stay. We welcome you back anytime you are in Spearfish and wish to have a comfortable room.

“Really Good price for a double room. Quiet area!”

Enjoyed staying there on 10/5/11. Quiet neighborhood as a location. $51 for double room at the time. Continental breakfast was good. Beds were the most comfortable beds (I think they were pillow-top mattress). Rooms were of good size, however, bathroom was a bit small. Sink area was outside of bathroom. Not alot of restaurants in the immediate area, though, that were open at 8pm upon arrival. Lots of Tv channels.

We are delighted to read your review of your stay with us, ParksNRecGuy. Early October is a great time to be in the Spearfish area if you want to observe the changing leaves in Spearfish Canyon. We are glad you had a comfortable stay and that the new pillow-top mattresses were comfortable. Yes, some of our double rooms have the bathrooms are a bit smaller with the sink on the outside, but many of our other room types have bathrooms that are larger and self-enclosed. We hope that you will once again choose to stay with the Travelodge next time you are in Spearfish!

“Clean and Comfortable”

My husband and I planned a trip to the Black Hills kinda last minute for the August 2011 Kool Deadwood Nights and had a hard time finding a place to stay. Travelodge of Spearfish had a room available for the nights we wanted. She assured us that the king room was recently renovated. We were very pleased with our room. New pillow top mattress, nice white towels, quiet and clean overall. The property was also neat and clean. Our king room was on the back side and we could not see our vehicle from our room, but did not have any problems. Staff was friendly and courteous.
We certainly would consider coming back here when in the area.

Thank you very much for staying with us and for your review of your stay, GloriaF43030. We are pleased that you had a welcoming stay with us, and we are happy to read your comments. We have been making plenty of improvements to our property to enhance the guest experience, including the construction of an all-season hot tub and a laundry room for our guests. We hope during Kool Deadwood Nights you will once again choose to stay with us again!

“A Bit of a False Start but Ultimately Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

We're location independent professionals who need reliable Internet service and a comfortable place to work in a hotel room. When the wireless signal was inadequate in our first room, the hotel accommodated us with a larger, more private room. Layout was a little quirky, but hotel's location within walking distance to downtown was great. Nice people and reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to communicate what you're looking for

We wish to thank you for staying with us, betsywuebker, and we appreciate your review as well. Like you, a good internet connection is important to me when I travel, and ours is only as good as the company that provides it to our hotel. One of the improvements we have planned is stronger signal availability across our property with more internet access points.

We are glad to hear you found our service was very accommodating for your specific needs and the room you had was comfortable and large. I completely agree with your suggestions on obtaining better service - when guests communicate what is important to them, we are in a better situation to provide them with what they want.

I also agree that our property's layout is a bit unique, which has its advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage is that we can offer a wide variety of room types, each with something special; the main disadvantage is that providing the correct room type for each guest can sometimes be less than perfect - unless they communicate their needs to us up front.

We are happy to have you as our guests, betsywuebker, and we hope that next time you are in the Black Hills, you will choose to stay with us again.
