We stopped here on our way west, having selected it from another travel review site. It is one of the small motels from the 1950s with substantial parking available at your motel door, and located off the interstate and past a cluster of retail so it is in a quiet location. The front staff was friendly and efficient, and we noted the small tavern attached. Several people were in there drinking, but we never went in. Our room was small, as would be expected from a motel of this era, and it was absolutely spotless and recently refurnished with attractive pine furniture that included a queen bed, a wardrobe, desk and drawers, and two side tables. Our carpet had stains on it, but if you are dealing with people tracking in mud from the parking lot, it is not surprising, however, the carpet was free of crumbs and surface dirt. Our bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom is small with original tiles, which I love, and a new shower/tub insert. I did see other rooms when doors were open and there were various stages of refurnishing going on. Some rooms had shag carpet and older looking furniture, so if decor bothers you, you might want to ask to see a room before checking in. Next door is a good and convenient restaurant for meals. We ate there both for dinner and breakfast. The only downside to the motel were the thin walls, which was surprising because they were made of the cinder block. However the noise could be from the fact that we had poor neighbors. Our neighbors had their television on loudly late, but that helped cover up some friskiness we heard next door, and then the shower at 3 a.m. But if if you are not a light sleeper, this shouldn't bother you. I will point out that those were the only people we heard. Our other neighbors were quiet, so perhaps we just had rude people on the other side. Overall, a good stop.
