This is about the 4th time we stayed at the Thunderbird, We bring our son to Mitchell SD every year, and then stay later in the Fall to watch him play football at DWU. Our room is always clean and spotless. The breakfast is good enough to get you going in the morning , which is included in the room price. I think it is the best value in Mitchell. I have stayed at the Motel 6, and the Thunderbird is hands down better! Speak to Matt the Owner/Manager and he will do his best for you! Highly recommended!

After reading reviews on Tripadvisor, we booked this lodge. We paid more than 100 dollars Bedsheets were not washed and air conditioner made terrible noise overnight. Recliner in the really old and dirty.
If people upstairs walking, you can hear their footsteps overnight. Breakfast was OK.
Their whirlpool is like a small puddle on the floor.
Not worth it at all.

This is not a fancy place. The beds and breakfast were OK. The owner/desk clerk was super nice on a VERY busy weekend (Sturgis and state baseball). The entire place was spotless. Frig, microwave and coffeepot in the room. In spite of a full house things were quiet.

This is the second time we have stayed here while passing through Mitchell SD on vacation. The rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable, and the rates are excellent. Most of all, Matt the owner is friendly and fun to talk with, and helpful for local info. I usually stay at Hampton or Fairfield hotels, but this local find is on my list to visit every time I come through this area. GREAT place to stay!!
