It's a wild maze to find your room and that is only if you can find parking. The rooms are average. There isn't really a restaurant, more like cooking in a closet with 5 tables in the center of some slot machines and the food is less than mediocre. No waitresses. Unlike most gaming places, soda and coffee are not free. Nothing is free and the machines don't pay back very frequently.

We stayed for 5 nights with 14 other couples as part of a getaway cruise with our Corvette club. We stayed in the Terrace rooms area up the hill from the casino building. They
reserved parking in the covered garage and had a car wash area set up for anyone to use.
The rooms were nice and the patio area was a great place to hook up at the beginning or the end of the day. We pretty much ate breakfast there as we were all over the place enjoying the scenery and great roads. If you walked away hungry it was because you didn't put enough on your plate. Kudos to Mr. Schladweiler and his staff for making this a great stay.

I stayed here August 7th to the 11th during the Sturgis Bike Week. With that said - the price of the room was highly inflated. I knew that when I booked it.

I was in building 3 which is one of the new buildings. Check in was smooth. The room was clean and inviting. The bed was very comfortable. I would give this place a 3 star "rating" compared to the many other places I stay at.

The hotel is at least a mile from the downtown area. I know this because I walk alot and I know it takes me approx. 15 min to walk a mile at a casual pace....and it took 15 min to get downtown. But there are other places close to First Gold. Cadillac Jacks is “next” door (about a 4-5 min walk).

The room is only a couple minute walk to/from the casino and the hotel does offer a golf card ride back and forth from the rooms to the First Gold Casino for those can don’t want to or can’t walk far. The hotel is on a hill and maybe challenging for some. And there are a lot of steps if you choose to pass on the elevators.

The casino is nice, like all the other places in town. Lots of options from penny machines to $1 machines. They have the basic table games that South Dakota allows. I’m not a gambler, but my husband stayed entertained.

We ate the breakfast buffet 3 days. It is affordable, right around $15.00 for the two of us plus a tip. The food was ok. I opted for the fresh made omelet because I did not like the eggs they had in the trays. Bacon, sausage, fruit, toast…the usual.

I would stay here again if I decided to visit Deadwood again.

The First Gold hotel in Deadwood, SD is a hidden treasure. It sits at the end of town on the mountain and has great access to downtown via the trolley next door that costs only $1.00. Although the property has 3 buildings at 3 levels, a golf cart comes as soon as it is called for, to transport you up or down. The food at the buffet is expemplary with a cut of prime rib to rival a high end steak house. Service is invariably friendly, with the exception of the breakfast hostess who is brusque, and check in is more than effiecient. Gaming is also available here at the building one casino, with complimentary appetizers and cookies. Rooms are up to date and clean and comfortable in building 3 where we stayed. All in all a good experience.
