We had the Queen Deluxe room which sounded great on the internet, but was the smallest hotel room i've ever stayed in. Not good when there's 2 adults and 2 kids. When you have the pullout couch open you can't get the door to the room open all the way without hitting the bed. The bathroom (toilet & tub only) is very small and they put the light switch on the OUTSIDE of the bathroom. I've never seem this before and if you have kids with you, be prepared to be in the dark at some point with no way of turning the light back on!! The furnishings are very cheap and the bed is lower quality. They have a generic bottle of liquid soap for you to wash your hands with and a generic "all over" soap dispenser in the shower. No personal soaps or little bottles of shampoos here. We paid $150 to stay here over pagaent weekend. If I ever go again, I will stay in Brookings where they have many nice hotels to choose from.

we were there during the hottest part of July and were glad to escape the heat with air conditioning and a pool. The pool and hot tub were large. Room had a fridge and Wifi. There was a small breakfast in the morning - toast and bagels.

Spent 2 days there in mid-June 2011. The hotel is clean, close to Little house books related attractions, quiet and in general was very pleasant to stay at.

Pros included friendly staff (offered out kids free ice cream cones) clean/comfortable rooms, and a great location. Only real con was that for a basic hotel room the price was a tad high, but still cheaper than some other places in the area.

This hotel was comfortable and clean and met our needs for one night. I think the owners live onsite and were available for our late arrival and were even gracious despite the lateness of the hour. The staff pointed me in the right direction to the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites in town, which was the reason I went to De Smet, South Dakota.
