The tour has brought us through South Carolina already twice this week and so we got experience this special super 8 on more than one occasion thus far. We had the same room and in regards to Ms. Deborah at the front desk we could not have gotten treated any better, she was fast and efficient, very courteous and accommodating towards any concerns. Service is superb, however....with regards to the rooms you will have to just know what to expect.
Right off the bat what we find is that the beds have no support at all, I would compare it to sleeping on sacks of cotton. That is nice for you to rest your head but for the rest of your body you yearn for structure to properly get your sleep. So the beds are too soft and not very stable, mine moved around when I sat on it. There is the issue concerning the lighting, I absolutely dread the lighting in these hotels but for some reason this Super 8 was even dimmer than the rest. The location of the power outlets was extremely limited, you had your nightstand and then by the lamp to the far right. Otherwise you are stuck to plugging up your electronics by the sink, not a good idea I think. There was only one trash can which made it uncomfortable having to empty it out every couple of hours because you bought something or were disposing of trash. A refreshing contrast was that we had more towels than usual with a whole separate set in the bathroom in addition to our usual amount. Both the shower and A/C units worked great. My final issue was with the door, it seemed as if the door was poorly maintained and never seemed closed, it made me check it every so often just to make sure we were safe. We had a microfridge which served our purposes well and the TV was large and clear.
Overall an average stay when you balance out some of these pros against the cons. Location was alright with a walmart 300 ft away from the property as well as a whole shopping plaza located behind the hotel. I also forgot to mention a small rat hole in my wall by my bed that had been covered up with a piece of plywood and tape, it was unsightly but did the job until I head the tape fall off from age, I think they should get that wall repaired. I enjoyed the staff, breakfast was very limited but the coffee was good and the orange juice delightful. Like I said it all balanced out in the end. It's not a Super 8, it's an adventure!
Room Tip: I think they had some newly remodeled rooms, try to ask for one!
