“So Relaxing and Tranquil”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

We stayed at the Litchfiled Plantation in September 2011. We were to only guests staying there at the time, and as the main house was closed up we stayed in one of the bungalows on site. The whole place has an air of relaxation about it, the grounds are stunningly beautiful and the staff very helpfull and friendly. The bungalow we stayed in was very comfortable and equipped to a very high standard. The pool , sited on the edge of the plantation , looking out onto the marshes was just fantastic.Even though we were the only guests there at the time, the carriage house restaurant was opened for breakfast for us, a nice touch. If you want a relaxing get away from it all vacation, this is the place to go. Myrtle beach is only 20 minutes away, so plenty to do, and there are plenty of local restaurants to try.Would recomend this place to anyone, absolutley fantastic time, already planning to go back soon...Thankyou

Room Tip: bungalows are very private and quiet

“Rehersal dinner and after party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2010

We had 65 for sit down dinner. The room was well decorated and very cozy. The meal came in three courses. Each was very good but the steak was perfect. Not one complained at all.
The staff headed by Barbara was one of the best I've seen with such a big group. After dinner we had 70-80 show up for an after party. We had a two piece band sit up in the hall way with full bar. It was GREAT!!!!! Everyone danced and had a grand time. At this point we had over 145 in the facility. The band named "Mullet" could play anything you wanted and kept the crowd very engaged. You pay alittle extra but the attention to detail and the beautiful decor along with the cozy feel made it all worth it. Yes I'd do it all over again!!!!

“Exquisite Peace and Calm”

I have been puzzled by the irate responses of people who must have stayed at a Litchfield Plantation on another planet. Yes, there are other homes on the property--there have been ever since the first year we spent time there (seven years ago)--and they never bothered us because we never bothered them. The service--from booking the home we rented, to arrival greeting, to booking restaurant reservations, to splendid breakfasts, to a SPECTACULAR dinner in the dining room, to a splendid beach house, to a VERY reluctant departure--has been exemplary. The accommodations are entirely comfortable without being so prissy that you feel you can't have a drink without standing on a bathmat in a corner. It is all about an extremely comfortable getaway from the demands of life in the real world--and it has rewarded us consistently every year for the past few years. We usually stay in one of the houses--Tucker Woods II, most often--and we have come to look on it as our own place in the quiet pines--secluded, blissfully quiet, immaculate, and thoroughly comfortable. I can't imagine why anyone would not find the seductive attention of the staff and the Inn absolutely irresistible and I am always somewhat worried that there won't be room for us when we finally are able to book the two weeks we prefer. Maybe I can convey our pleasure by reporting that we have invited friends to join us for a portion of our time every year since the second year we were guests--and all we hear from them is how splendid their experience was. I think the people who had troubles here must have troubles with living.

“A nice getaway weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2008

My wife and I recently returned from a weekend at this Plantation. We got the Romance Package which included a spa room in one of the villas (i.e., 1970's era condo), a massage from a local spa, two breakfasts, and a dinner at the Carriage House Club (the restaurant on the grounds). Overall, we both enjoyed the weekend - it was off season so the rates were reasonable and the place was uncrowded. We had the entire condo to ourselves - but I don't think I would enjoy it nearly as much if I shared it with two other couples (especially if I didn't know them). The condo is fairly small and the common areas (living room and dining room) would be tight with more than four people in them. The staff was very friendly, though the dining room was understaffed for breakfast which was frustrating. Overall, I can't complain about the weekend - it was quiet which was all that we were looking for. There are probably better places on Pawley's Island - certainly less expensive - but overall I think it pretty much a decent place to get away.

“A beautiful plantation in South Carolina, but”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2007

Litchfield Plantation is a beautiful setting and has great potential.
Our family stayed in the Guest House on the Plantation and it was very nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is provided at the Carriage House each morning and it is great.
I would not recommend hosting any catered dinners at the Guest House as we discovered the catering staff is unprofessional, they ran out of food and did not bring the agreed upon menu nor dinner plates for our guests and the clean up was miserable. They also require you pay in advance of the catered event and there does not seem to be any recourse to resolve problems. So buyer, be aware.

We did our utmost to assist this woman at her sons rehersal dinner. My staff is excellent , those who are not , no longer work here.
Don't judge by one unhappy person. We have just been reveiwed and visited by Travel Channel and they were extremely pleased.
