I stayed at the Schooner II recently with a friend who traded her time share week for a week here. The 2 bedroom unit we had was on the 5th floor and had an oceanfront balcony off the living room with a gorgeous view! While smaller than some 2 BR condos, the unit is very well designed to make good use of the space, was attractively decorated, very clean, and turned out to be quite suitable for our needs. The master bedroom has an oceanfront picture window, and even the 2nd BR with 2 twin beds has a window from which you can see the ocean, though it's more like a side view. The unit has a fully equipped kitchen including range, sink, full size fridge, dishwasher, utensils, dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker, and a dining table w/ 4 chairs. A roll of paper towels, small bottle of dish liquid and one packet of electric dishwasher detergent were provided. The living room has a sofabed, coffee table and 2 upholstered side chairs. The TV is a large flat screen and has a dvd player as well. The master bedroom also has a large flat screen TV, and even the 2nd bedroom has a TV, though it's a small one. The bedroom closets are small, but adequate for a week's worth of clothes. There are 2 bathrooms, and even a 3rd sink in the hallway. The master bath has a jetted tub! The Schooner II also has a small heated pool that is covered this time of year, and a whirlpool as well. They have lounge chairs on the oceanfront lawn, and you can get towels from the staff on your way outside for use at the pool or beach. There is an exercise room and game room on the 15th floor and also a sauna and hot tub. Even a raquet ball court, though we didn't try this. The amenities on the website didn't mention having hair dryers, but there was one in the master bath. The only toiletries were bars of soap, but a note in the elevator said you could buy necessities from the front desk if you forgot any toiletries. The wireless internet worked fine on 5th floor. The access points seemed to be the 4th and 7th floors. Though there is no restaurant or snack bar on the grounds, there are places to eat in walking distance. And the location at 21st Avenue on Ocean Boulevard is only a short drive from Broadway at the Beach, where there are limitless opportunities for shopping, eating and entertainment. The staff were not always knowledgeable about the area, but they were uniformly friendly and pleasant. We had an enjoyable stay here and I would definitely return.
