Well let me just start off by saying I was a lil nervous about saying at the Tides inn and suites, but wow did they prove me wrong! I stayed from July 2-July 5 09`. and it wuz a very convient hotel!!!! The Beach strip (where all the shopping stores are at is litterally 3minutes away if that!!!) Plus Brodway at the Beach is 5 minutes away!!!!! and they have a convient store so if u forget sumthing they have almost everything in that store...and if u like cluben they have a night club at nite! and Gillians bar (they own it) and the pancake house are conviently across the street!!!!! I'm 19 and my boyfriend who I went with is 23..well we sorta had badluck on this trip too...okay so there wuz nowhere to park so we parked in the blue bay parken lot by mistake..and our car got towed away and the guy who towed it said he couldn't give us a ride to pick up our car cuz he wasn't allowed to have ppl in his truck!!!! He told us to catch a ride with sum 1!!!!!!! so I wuz like catch a ride with sum 1 !!!!!!?? we don't know any 1, were not from Myrtle Beach...so me and my boyfriend decided we were gonna walk since he said it wuz 5 minutes driven distance..and we didn't wanna pay a taxi since we were gonna have to pay $120.00 to pick up our car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soooo we went back to our hotel and told the guy behind the counter in the store wat happened so could he give us directions and he said well if yall wanna wait for a lil while he would give us a ride over there!!!! He was completly nice by given us a ride and after that I felt like the staff really had our backs!!!!! and another lady gave us directions to pairsail they were ALL completly NICE!!!! The rooms were clean (no hairs on the sheet) great balcony view!!! I thought this hotel wuz cheap in price and thats what I wuz looken for because I knew that I wasn't goin to Myrtle Beach to spend all my time in the hotel so w/ this motel bein cheap and all I was able to spend my money on fun things for example: parasailing, fanasy resturants, spook houses, shopping =) my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the hotel, staff, and the location of the motel!!!!!

“Not A Resort But It Will Do”

My boyfriend and I reciently took a trip to Myrtle Beach. In the few days before we left for the beach I spent a great deal of time online searching for a hotel. To my suprise I had a very hard time finding a place that would accomidate us. You see, I am only 18 and my boyfriend is but 21. Most hotels in Myrtle Beach have an age policy that requires a person to be 25 to rent a room. When we couldn't find a place online we decide to just drive down to the beach and search for a hotel when we arrived. After spending a great deal of time going in and out of hotels that were rude, and refused us (just because of age), we stoped at the Tides Inn & Suites. Now I am not going to sugar-coat the experience. There were some down parts like the fact that the hall ways were carpeted and when it rained they became saturated with water. The parking was a small lot accross the street and a secluded lot about 3 blocks aways. This appeared a little dangerous to me. I would not enjoy parking in a dark secluded lot alone, but I was with someone and we only had to park a distance away once. The lady at the front desk was more than kind, allowing us to look at various rooms before checking in. Once we finally decided to stay, the room was very reasonably priced, and the cleark gave us a discount on the rate. The room itself was very clean, no stains or discoloration on the comfortor or the sheets. There were some rust stains in the shower but nothing else. The balcony was very small, with only room enough for two people to sit, and the air conditioner did cause the balcony to become warm. We found that if you just turn the air to fan while you are on the balcony, everything is fine. The hotel has a convinence store, a bar and grill, and a pool side bar all located on the lot. The cleark was sure to inform us when we checked in that the bar would be open until 2 am and that if we were bothered by noise, that maybe this wasn't the hotel for us. Supprisingly, we were on the 3rd floor and couldn't hear a thing! The pool was very clean, although there are a limited number of chairs around the pool area.
All in all, the hotel wasn't bad. No it is not a 5 star resort but for $100 a night, and an oceanfront room, it wasn't bad. I would suggest this hotel for those between the ages of 18 and 30 who are single or young couples. It is great for those who love the Myrtle Beach Night life. I would not suggest this hotel for a romantic honeymoon, or older couples looking for a "Fancy" relaxing beach trip.

“Very disapppointed!!!!”

This past weekend, my friends & I went to the beach for a batchlorette party. The Tides Inn & Suites was always our first choice hotel to stay at since we have had no problems in the past. The owner/manager called us to let us know their office would be closing at 9:00p.m., and that he would leave our key across the street at the bar with the bar manager. We arrived to the hotel at 10:00p.m. We sat at the bar for a while, then the bride to be & I decided to go to the room. When we opened the door, we were stunned! The comforter on one of the beds was torned, we had no toilet paper, there was urine on the toilet, the shower was nasty. The owner/manager just so happen to be across the street at the bar. When we told him of this, he showed very little interest. So, to make a long story short, we couldn't get a refund for that night, but the next morning we decided to go find another hotel. We ended up staying at the Atlantica. The employee's were very nice & polite and the room was AWESOME!!! So, to the staff of Tides Inn & Suites, we are not the kind of people that cannot take a little dirt, we just want the service and respect that we paid for.

My husband and I searched the internet listings for a Motel /Hotel that offered us on the beach location away from other resorts and motels and offered a jacuzzi, after all we are on vacation. We found the Tides Inn that offered spectacular photos of it's location and it offered jaccuzzi rooms. When I called to find out the rates the lady from Tides Inn declared it was going to cost $500 for 4 days. This seemed resonable, after all the photos showed a wonderful room.
When we arrived to Myrtle Beach we had a hard time finding this Motel. It was in between two other hotels. Not anything like its photo on the internet! Parking was even worse! We checked in at the store in front of the motel, and the store stank of pee. The clerk who barely spoke english handed me the key to the room and the remote control to the television in the room. The remote was caked with a white substance which appeared to be dried sperm. I asked the clerk for a clean remote and he handed it to I think the store owner, who declared it as clean! Imagine that. I informed my husband that if the room was anything like the remote we will ask for our money back!
The room was average, I requested a Non Smoking room and what do you know, they put us in a smoking room! Please dont get me wrong, I am not a nit picker, but when paying $500 for 4 days you would expect top notch service. The room stank of ciggarettes!I smoke on occassion, but never in doors especialy where I sleep. The Jacuzzi was stained with cigarette and cigar burns and stains. It was also not clean.
We immeditly returned to the front desk and declared our money back! They refused. Because I had booked the room in advance with a credit card they would not give us back our money, they stated that we had to stay that one night and they would refund us for the next 3 days. So we stayed one night.
The only thing nice about the TIDES in is the bars they have and the beach that was built on.
I would not recomend this place while it is being managed by these discusting people.
We later checked out some other motels, Beach Board walk for 30 bucks a night, what a dump! that place needs to be burned to the ground!
We ended up finding a spectacular 1 bed condo including all ementys such as washer and dryer, full kitcheN, with the room facing the ocean for only 75 a night. The Ocean Plaza! I highly recomend it.

Best regards!

Dawn Owens

“Tides Inn & Suites/ Pitstop”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2005

If you are looking for a place to just lay your head while you are at the beach then the Tides Inn would probably be the perfect for you. If you are looking for more than just a pit stop this not the place for you. We travel from Baltimore to Myrtle Beach and it took forever because of a 3 hour delay on 95. All I could think of was sitting on the balcony enjoying the ocean and falling asleep by the sounds of the beach. When we opened the door and I saw the room I almost cried. The room was so small and packed with furniture it almost looked like a storage unit. The lobby was the mini mart. the remote contol was handed to you when you checked in and it had to be returned when you checked out. There was a coffee maker in the room, but no cups, spoons, sugar or etc. You really couldn't use the balcony because it was so small and the motor from the air conditioner took up most of the space and also when the air was on in the room the motor was so hot it made the small balcony very hot and uncomfortable. No on site parking. Windows that didn't open, no patio door, juat a plain wooden door that led to the balcony. Irons and hairdyers had to be borrowed from the lobby/mini mart. The buttons on the phone that was was not of any use was taken out leaving empty spaces which looked tacky. Even if you had a calling card it still cost .50 to use the phone. The roof to the downstairs restaurant blocked part of our balcony so we also got a view of beer tops and cigarette butts that was thrown on the roof. I am not going to mention price because I wouldn't stay at the Tides Inn again even if it was free. I could go on but I sure by now you get the idea. But I would also like to say that even though we were unhappy with our room we did not let that ruin our trip. We went on a casino cruise, shopped at the different stores and outlets, and spent time on the beach. Myrtle Beach is a wonderful vacation spot with lots of fun and interesting things to do and we will visit again soon and this time we hope to have better accommodations.
