I still cannot determine why I decided to leave the hotel chains that I know and am comfortable with - Marriott, and Hilton - for one that I really don't know much about - Wyndham - but as the adage goes, "You live and learn".
Booked on Baymont.com for 2-Adults and 1-Child to find out that accommodations were reserved with just 1-Double Bed, and an upgradefee was required to get 2-Beds. Tried calling Wyndham, but seemingly they have no power over their rapidly growing hotel lines. Front desk's position was that they do not get specific reservation info regarding number of patrons from parent organization, just that a single room is necessary. Hard to believe, but this is the same person that told me that I should be glad that they don't charge their rooms per person like other hotels do. I informed her that those types of hotels not only charge per person but also by the hour, and that is not the type of arrangements that I am looking for.
Paid the ridiculous upgrade fee even though they were nowhere near capacity. Next morning went to "Hot Continental Breakfast Buffet" which consisted of frozen items (omelettes, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches) which needed to be defrosted and heated in only 1 microwave where 12 people were already in line. This I had never heard of, nor even imagined!
All I'll say is that if you are staying in Florence, SC and must stay at a Wyndham property, try the Wingate just down the street because they are much more professional at the Front Desk, and their breakfast is really a hot buffet.
