My husband & I stayed overnight at the Belvedere recently. We live about 3 hrs away & decided to take a quick getaway to Charleston. Our experience was very nice. The home itself is beautiful & looks just like the photos on their website.

Upon arriving we were nicely greeted by Joanne. She gave us a tour & showed us to our room. The room was very quaint, clean & spacious. As others stated the bathroom was small but not the smallest I've seen. What stood out was the small size of the shower, but interestingly enough, it was very refreshing. The water didn't "shoot" out like at other places we've stayed. We didn't spend much time just hanging out at the home but that was only because our stay was short.

There's a nice balcony where you can sit & enjoy the scenary if the weather permits. oanne was extremely personable. Her homemade breakfast was great. Fresh, hot biscuits, eggs, bacon & delicious grits. (Although my husband does, I don't eat pork...when she found out she was apologetic & said had she known she would have prepared a non-pork option so I appreciated that). There was also fruit & homemade bread that she said was made by the owner David. Jacque their toy poodle was also very friendly. If we were to visit Charleston again we would definitely stay at the Belvedere.

I stumbled onto the Belvedere by dumb luck when my husband forgot to book a room at the conference rate at a local hotel for his academic meetings. This turned out to be one of his luckier memory lapses. The Belvedere is an elegant Southern mansion with character and charm. A hotel is just a hotel. The Belvedere will make you feel like you've stepped into Old Charleston, but with all the requisite modern comforts.

The Belvedere is a wonderful spot, full of stuff...pictures, books, bric a brac, so it is almost an adventure walking about from room to room, bumping into one curiosity after another. It is Southern in the best oif ways....relaxed, but still attentive to every detail. The breakfast was custom ordered and very good. The bedroom comfortable and well furnished. The location was in a quiet residential area and easy walking to everywhere. In short, we would return.

This was our third stay at the Belvedere and we will definitely return! The first time I discovered the website just by chance and called Joanne, the manager, who was able to book us on short notice. She was so gracious and fun! The next trip my husband and I built our vacation around the stay at the Belvedere and it's the perfect location in Charleston for convenience - great neighborhoods for walking, close to the Battery, as well as overlooking romantic Colonial Lake. I grew up in Charleston and this captures the essence of the beautiful, charming city. For our most recent vacation in the spring, we brought two other couples (from Texas and Oregon), so we had all three rooms for four days. It was perfect! We especially enjoyed visiting in the sitting room upstairs and sipping sherry on the porch overlooking the lake. The owner has decorated the home beautifully and we enjoy visiting with him at breakfast. Joanne is always very helpful with her recommendations for outings and dining. The breakfasts in the beautiful dining room were delicious and a lovely way to begin the day ! The rooms are comfortable and well appointed, and we always recommend the Belvere to friends who'll be visiting Charleston. We look forward to returning again soon to this delightful B&B!
