This was our 3rd year at the Admiral Dewey - an inn with a relaxing atmosphere, immaculate rooms, antique furnishings, and a full delicious breakfast. You can take a cup of coffee out to the porch and rock a bit of the morning away, head into town for the day, or take the short walk to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. Joan is a fabulous storyteller with all kinds of information about the area. We always look forward to seeing Joan for a long summer weekend and a great escape at the Admiral Dewey. Wish we could stay even longer.......... or better yet, spend the entire summer at the Admiral Dewey !!!

My husband and I have been staying at the Dewey for about 15 years. We hadn't been in two years, however, and we were so happy to see that Joan was still there and the inn was in beautiful condition. Our room was the newly done over Rm. 9 which was clean, fresh and comfortable! Breakfast consisted of fresh muffins, coffee cake, scones along with the usual cereal, toast, biscotti and fruit. This is just as it's always been, delicious. The Dewey's location is perfect for us because we do day trips to Newport, Watch Hill, the beach and even Mystic before heading home. It was a wonderful stay!

My family and I have been going to the Dewey for 10 years - now my grown children and their spouses also love the Dewey! We were there last summer for my niece's wedding and we had such a good time that we are all returning this summer. We love Joan and enjoy listeing to her stories about South County. The beach is a short walk from the Dewey and we love walking on the beach early in the morning. We come back to a delicious breakfast - Joan's homemade blueberry muffins and plum coffee cake are my favorites! After a day at the beach we love sitting on the wrap around porch - always a wonderful breeze on the porch. And the big decision of the day - where to go for dinner?
Lots of wonderful seafood places to enjoy and then ice cream at the Vanilla Bean - a favorite of everyone in Matunuck.

If I could have, I would have stayed at another hotel or bed and breakfast. Unless you want to get yelled at every time you pass Joan, the inn keeper, or just for someone to be plain mean to you (Guest: wow, the salads are great next door at the deli - Joan: what, like I don't know that), I would suggest going to a different place. She yelled at me for asking for an iron, yelled at the bride’s brother for ironing his shirt, and yelled at the bride for having too many people in her room helping her get ready for the wedding. We felt like she was annoyed that anyone was staying in her house, not that we had paid for a nice bed and breakfast (bed not so comfortable and breakfast consisted of bagels and English muffins left out).
