“Stone Lea left a warm feeling in my heart.”

I gave 2 nights at the Stone Lea as a gift to my husband for our wedding anniversary several years ago. What a sweet memory. I never want to forget it. We both loved the place. Absolutely beautiful home. If you want a place where you can have privacy and peace, this is it. The breakfast was great.....and filling enough so that we didn't need lunch. Our room was one of the smaller ones but it was facing the ocean. We had a lovely ocean breeze all night and were soothed to sleep by the sounds of the waves. In the morning we relaxed in the Adirondack chairs on the lovely lawn overlooking the water and then spent seveal hours exploring and walking the nearly deserted shoreline. Newport was close enough so that we could drive there in a few minutes and shop, see the sights, have dinner and then leave the hustle and bustle to come back to the peaceful solitude of Stone Lea. There was even a resident ghost that we had an encounter with! This may not be the place for those who like the glitzy, fast moving life but if you are looking for a peaceful place to unwind and soothe your soul, this is it. We will never forget how happy we were there.

“Very nice...obviously not for everyone.”

Stone Lea is one of the most beautiful places in Rhode Island. But, if you are looking for an upbeat atmosphere, you are looking in the wrong place. Stone Lea is conducive to relaxation and panoramic views. It is a shame that most people only look to make their comments heard when they are not satisfied. When was the last time you called the manager over to the table in a restraurant to compliment the wonderful food and service? This is a lovely place. Finally, when one reads a review, one really must take into consideration the grammatical/language skills of the author.

“Loved the Stone Lea”

We loved the Stone Lea! The setting is beautiful, the home warm and inviting and our hosts could not have been more gracious. Perhaps the negative reviewers would be better suited for Motel 6.

“agree with poor reviews”

Not sure if the owners have changed in the last few years, but when I stayed there a few years ago, the owners were more interested in entertaining their own evening guests and friends that stopped in at breakfast than in spending any time with the "paying" guests. The friendliest person there was a new chef. The location was nice, but the rooms were over-priced.

“Wrong About Stone Lea”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2004

My husband and I had the distinct pleasure of staying at Stone Lea and were delighted! The beautiful antiques and other family treasures displayed in the common rooms of this wonderful Victorian B&B on an off-the-beaten-path lane in Narragansett, overlooking the ocean is wonderful. We were joined at breakfast by other guests, many of whom were repeat guests, who raved about their stays, as well. While the room we stayed in was rather small, we booked at the last minute, and other rooms are quite spacious and lovely. It is very expensive for the area, but there is nothing to compare it to! Mr. "local donut shop owner" must be jealous that they don't don't steer customers his way!
