Dining on the deck at this restaurant is lovely on a sunny day. The view of the water and the docks is very pleasant. There was very little boat action, probably because of the current gas prices. The food was mediocre at best.
We made reservations and asked for a birthday cake. No one was at the desk to greet us and we were told to go find a waitress outside. They did not have a table ready and they were not aware of the cake request. After more than a few minutes of trying to figure out where we were supposed to go we were greeted by a very nice waitress who put tables together for our small group. They did not have any cake available, however, I believe that they did go out of their way to get one. As dessert time approached we were informed that they did have a cake. It was a Pepperidge Farm frozen cake from the supermarket, but it did the trick. They must have sent someone out for it.
Food specifics: the lobster salad and steak sandwich were OK, but a bit on the small side, nothing special, people enjoyed the pizza, other dishes seemed OK, but no great food raves. The potato salad and cole slaw were too heavy on the mayo and not very good. Most restaurants serve these types of plates with french fries and/or onion rings. This restaurant seems to be cutting corners and only serving cole slaw or potato salad. We had to wait for one diner to receive her meal, which was a salad. The tomatoes looked really sad and obviously someone forgot to make the salad because it was a fairly long wait to be served. Our waitress was very pleasant and courteous.
Bottom line, if the birthday boy wants to go to this restaurant again, we would take him, however we think we can find a waterside restaurant with better food next time. Beware, there is only valet parking at these waterside restaurants in East Greenwich.
