“Basic Tavern Fare with View of Boats”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

A fairly frequent diner at the Tavern side & deck at 20 Water Street, it is comfortable and the help is friendly and attentive. Last several visits to the deck have been waited by Vanessa who brings that extra attention and smiles that help make this place enjoyable. The food is pretty good, not great, but priced okay for the ambiance. Basically tavern fare with an emphasis on seafood. Fruit & vegetables could be fresher - the calamari a bit too greasy. The main attractions being dockside for watching boat activity, people watching, and being a good spot to spend some time with friends and quiet conversation.

“Must have turned things around!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2011

We found it quite by accident after Chelo's would not admit us with our mini-dachshund. We were welcomed to the dockside tables here with our pet for dinner sitting. Magical views of the marina. It was around 6 p.m. when we arrived. Not any dinner rush yet so we had our choice of table. Our waitress, Michaela, was attentive but not overly and we thought that fine. Some mix up with our order with the kitchen. We had to tell our waitress it was okay to bring appetizers out ahead of meal.

Wife thouroughly enjoyed the Littleneck Clams. Quohogs were too breaded. My cheesburger was top choice sirloin, cooked to perfection! Daughter wolfed down the pulled pork. The bbq sauce was finger licking good. My wife did not even offer to share her crabcake sandwich. An indication it was too good to share. Drinks were reasonably priced around $6.

Scored high on ambience, family/pet friendliness and food. We are going back in a few weeks and will be sure to dine here again.

“Ease up on the salt.”

The service was top notch. Brittany was very attentive & couteous. The atmosphere on a cold Valentine's Day was romantic as we sat by the fireplace. Unfortunately, the calamari was quite salty as was the au jus that accompanied a generous portion of prime rib.

All in all a pleasant experience, just a bit too salty.

“Nice view but thats all”

I have been going to this restaurant in the summer for 10 years. When I went 2 weeks ago the food was ok and the service was worse. Thinking we caught them on a bad night, we returned again last weekend. Unfortunately it was the same. I don't know what has happened to the restaurant but its not the same. I was told they lost their head chef so maybe that was the problem. Not sure if I'll waste my time and money on this place again.

“Paying for the view”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2009

The food here is very, very overpriced and just o.k. Someone in my party got a cheeseburger...it looked like a McDonald's burger on a bun with no lettuce, tomato etc. How hard is it to serve a good burger? This is a casual outdoor place, they should have great burgers. The service is average to below average. It is fun to people watch on Sunday nights-50 year old single guys with pinky rings all decked out working the ladies.
