“Perfection”

The Avonlea is right on the ocean, so close you can throw a seashell at it. My husband and I stayed in the Waverly III for our honeymoon and couldnt have been happier. Christie is amazing and very sweet. She truly makes your trip from great to fantastic, and has great advice on where to go on the island for some local flare. We will definitly be back time and time again. Plus its a super short walk from the Ferry and everything else. this is definitly the place to stay!!!

Room Tip: Choose the Waverly III or Avonlea for the best views and access to the ocean.

“A Little Slice of Heaven.....”

Block Island is truly a little slice of heaven, and The Avonlea is the perfect setting. Our visit could not have been more perfect. Our room, the Sapphire, had gorgeous views. We enjoyed going to sleep and awakening to the sounds of the waves,, and watching the sunrise from our window was breathtaking. Christy was wonderful....such delicious breakfasts and "happy hour" spreads made it very hard to leave. We did promise ourselves that we would be back.

“Disappointing”

We stayed in one of the cottages; none of the property is directly on the beach; the beach is very close and you can hear the waves but you can't see it. The accommodations were very sparse; only one tv worked and it was extremely tiny with a non-functioning remote and no movies or premium cable. Freezer didnt work. Can't imagine what the others raved about afa breakfast- located in a small dark basement with very mediocre food; only the eggs and scones were homemade; 1 jelly, boxed sugar cereals, and their famous cookies were awful. Young staff was very pleasant; maid seemed resentful. Would've been ok if it were $175 per nite instead of $500!

“Quaint and relaxing”

charming Inn with a view of the ocean from The Tea Cottage, private but conviently located in town. Excellent breakfast with various pastries, cereal, boiled eggs, juice, fruit and great coffee served in their basement kitchen. Red and white Wine with cheese and crackers along with cookies served at 530 p.m. and pleasant staff. Video tapes, magazines, books and a cat on the property. Beach chairs, towels and a hairdryer. Lavender soap, great water pressure and Pet friendly! Weathered with peeling paint, antiques and a wonderful surf heard from our room at night. The back patio needed some more charm added as I felt like gardening and sprucing it up. For a meal The Oar is a great place to eat with a fantastic view of The Old Salt pond. Enjoy beautiful Block Island and its hidden treasures.

Room Tip: We stayed in The Tea Cottage. Quaint with a view of the beach from our small patio.

“Avonlea is truly fantastic”

Just got back from a two night "girls get-a-way" and could not be more pleased. I have made many day trips to the island but this was my first stay.
Located on the beach rocking chairs and wicker furniture on the wrap around porch beckon you to sit and relax while offering a stunning view of the ocean.
Our room was spacious, clean and offered a private porch. Although located in the basement of the building without ocean view the room was charming, clean and comfortable.
You wont be disapointed by breakfast and cocktail hour appetizers. Breakfast went way beyond the standard continental offerings.
The innkeeper, Christy, is not only a fantastic cook but a most gracious hostess making you feel welcome and right at home.
Avonlea is truly a gem and I cannot wait to visit again.
