I had reserved two rooms on a family trip for my niece's college homecoming. This Holiday Inn Express was on the "special rate" list of accommodations provided by Misericordia University. As a requirement to obtain the special rate, you had to contact the property directly to make your reservations, which I did, and in doing so, received a confirmation number.
Upon arriving at the hotel at 9:00 PM on a Saturday, (in the rain), I was told that I had only reserved one room and they were "sold out" for the evening. When I insisted that I had reserved two rooms, I was told I only reserved 1 room. After producing my confirmation number, (which I needed to go to the car to retrieve), I was then told that I cancelled my reservation for two rooms and then reserved only one room and they were still sold out.
Since one room was not an option, I asked the man at the counter what he could do to help me and he said "Nothing" and there was no one else on property that could help me. It was at that point that I went out to my car (again) to retrieve my cell phone. Upon my return, the desk clerk told me that now I had two rooms available... just as I had reserved.
The hotel itself was fine... updated, clean and modern, as you would expect from any Holiday Inn Express.
I don't know what the reservation issue was, it was never explained to me. I don't know why I needed to go thru this "game" in order for them to give me the rooms I had reserved in the first place. Perhaps, due to the late hour of my 9:00 PM arrival, one of the rooms I had reserved (and supposedly prepaid) have been already given to someone else.
