First, I have read that the location of this hotel is very hard to find. I can see that, but originally being from the W-B area, I knew right were it was. We were in town visiting an ill relative and just needed a place to stay for the night with our three children. We loved the fact that the King suite had the master bedroom with doors that closed, giving us privacy, thus why we chose this hotel. The night before our stay, I spoke personally to a woman at the hotel and let her know that we would need a rollaway. When we arrived the next day, our reservation was nowhere to be found. To the staff's credit, they quickly remedied the situation and we checked in with no problem.
We headed up to our room, dropped our bags off and turned around to leave to go visit with family. Upon our brief visit to the room, we were truly excited. The room was clean and it looked to be just what we needed. We returned later that evening looking forward to a relaxing night in the pool. I'm not sure what the levels of chlorine are in that pool, but the skin was actually flaking off my legs (as was another guest's that I noticed) and my husband and daughter's eyes burned for hours after leaving the pool. I took our room towels down to the pool (not knowing whether or not towels were provided) and I'm glad I did. Only six towels were available and when more were requested, they were not available. We tried to request more towels for our room, because now all our towels were soaking wet and got the same response...none available. I had to resort to getting change at the desk to use the pay clothes dryer on our floor.
Then came the pull-out bed and rollaway - wires were sticking out of the mattress on the pull-out mattress and the blankets for both were full of holes. Plus the blankets are an "icky" feeling wool mixture.
The sink in our bathroom was so slow in draining - watching the toothpaste swirl around in the sink was quite disgusting. We let the front desk know upon our departure.
Okay, let's just get to bed - it's only overnight. We wake up, head downstairs for breakfast at 8:00 AM (an hour and a half before breakfast is over) and hardly anything is left. I asked if there was anymore waffle mix and all I got was "he didn't leave anymore than that" - meaning the elusive cook. I commented, saying "First I'm drying my own towels and now there's no breakfast!" - retort - "Oh yeah, I heard that happened!" Add to that a dog barking all night down the hall and a mother and child fighting throughout the night, slamming doors and yelling in the hall. Yes, I know, we could have let them know, but at 2:00 AM I am not going to rouse my three children and trek to another room.
It seemed as if the staff really didn't know what they were doing, didn't care to find any solutions, and there was some sort of "secret staff" only available via walkie-talkie. The least the desk staff could have done was offer to reimburse the $1.50 it took me to pay for the dryer.
We thought we had found our "go-to" hotel for our next couple of stays, but we will look elsewhere.
