Just returned this evening from Wilkes Barre. Stayed at the Ramada, room 826 and found it quite satisfactory. Had a king size bed and the mattress was excellent and the four oversized pillows were wonderful. Room was quite clean, furnishings a bit older, but I like that actually. Excellent water pressure with fast hot water. Small refrigerator and microwave in room.
Hallways could use a bit of better lighting. Use of an extension cord for one lamp would probably not get the fire inspectors approval.
Great location on the Square of Wilkes Barre, made it an easy walk to all the places I needed to be. Didn't try the restaurants, although quite a few people were in Windows having breakfast this morning, food looked appealing.
Some areas of hotel are being used to house Kings College students at the present time. Other than seeing a few walking in and out of the building, never knew they were there.Wouldn't hurt for the front desk folks to at least look up when someone enters the lobby, the distance from the counter to front door is minimal and a personal acknowledgement would go a long way in making guests feel more welcome, at no cost to the hotel!!
Would stay here again.
One note: I did book direct, with a AAA discount, around $94 with taxes. I've learned NOT to book with the "discounters' as the tendency is for you to get "what you pay for" as far as room assignment.
Room Tip: Upper floor ( 7 or 8) and overlooking the Square would be nice.
