“A restful oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

The innkeepers at the Arvgarden, Hilma and Keith, are living their retirement dream and are very passionate about it. They are wonderful people with a love for natural beauty. Their home/B&B sits on 118 acres of truly pristine, unspoiled land near Wellsbor, PA, at an elevation of 1900 ft above sea level. The views are breathtaking. The hot breakfasts in the morning are superb and the accomodations are very "homey." We would certianly recommend this retreat to anyone looking for a place to relax and unwind - forget about the daily trials of life.
We plan on returning in the near future !!

“A Delighful Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

My husband and I took a get-away from the summer heat to Wellsboro, Pa. and stayed 2 nights at Arvgarden. The home is lovely. Simple, comfortable furnishings made us instantly feel at home. There is a sitting area just outside the guest bedrooms with helpful books and pamphlets detailing activities in the surrounding areas. The hosts, Hilma and Keith, were very welcoming and friendly. Hilma's breakfasts are fantastic.
I want to go back just for the lemon pancakes and blueberry buckle.
Best of all, is Arvgarden's outdoor areas. The farm's sheep provided some evening entertainment while we tried to sneak up on them to take photos. We walked around the property and each night ended up sitting in the pavilion down by the pond. It was truly relaxing. We plan on visiting again! (Only downside, and it really wasn't a problem, was that I couldn't hook up to internet with my computer from our room. (Was able to do so with my IPod.) I was able to get a connection in the kitchen.)

Room Tip: I loved the room we were in. Can't remember the name but it was in the back corner closest to t...

“The best place we've ever stayed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

My wife and I just came back from vacation in Wellsboro, PA. We stayed 6 nights at Arvgarden. We were so glad we did. It was by far the best lodging experience ever. I fully agree with the previous reviewer and just want to add a few details. From the very first moment we were feeling like visiting our best friends, so friendly, warm and carrying our hosts Keith and Hilma were. They do not use any staff, doing everything themselves. Guests stay in very cozy and clean rooms with full baths and wonderfull views in one wing of the house while the hosts live in the other one. All rooms are connected with very nice common area where you can meet other guests or read travel brochures or books. At 8 a.m. you're invited to dining room for fresh cooked hot breakfast where you're served by the hosts. You enjoy your healthy meal eating from fine dinerware and drinking from chrystal glasses watching gold finches and other birds eating their meal from bird feader attached to the window. And it was such a pleasure talking to other guests and the hosts that we didn't want to leave dining room untill 9! We walked around 100+ acre farm, met farm animals and former stray cats Keith resqued and employed to hunt mice in the barn, watched hummingbirds sitting on the deck. Close to everything but tranquil. We had never enough time talking to Keith and Hilma, they are such intelligent folks and good story tellers. Just please, never ask them who is a better cook, Keith or Hilma...You will love the place unless you can't live without TV and AC (most time it's breazy and much cooler there so we didn't need AC). Wonderfull place!

Room Tip: Every one of 4 rooms is great

“Amazing, look no further.”

We stayed at Arvgarden for one night around the memorial day weekend, and WOW - i'm not sure five stars really do this wonderful B&B justice. This was an incredible experience.

Originally i booked Arvgarden because we needed to stop overnight on our trip from Washington DC to Niagara Falls, but after our stay i would not hesitate to say that Arvgarden is very well worth the special trip in its own right. We'll definitely be staying there on our next vacation.

LOCATION: Arvgarden is very well situated among scenic hills right outside Wellsboro and close to all the parks. The air there is amazing, and it's so quite and tranquil. In my opinion that is preferable to staying in Wellsboro itself. Hilma was very kind to give us all the maps and information we needed to do some sightseeing.

ROOMS: Simply impeccable. Beautifully decorated, spotless clean (and i'm usually hard to pleas on that one), very comfortable beds and pillows. You'll also find extra pillows and blankets in your closet. I believe that at least three out of four rooms are "corner" rooms, which means you'll have lovely views form two windows and plenty of fresh air. In case of warm weather each room has a sealing fan, which is perfect. The bathrooms are quite large and very comfortable as well. There is a small night light in the bathroom which you can turn on at night, and the soaps smell terrific.

BREAKFAST: Possibly the best i've ever experienced at any B&B! You'll be spoiled by excellent home cooking with organic wholesome ingredients, most of which are coming from Arvgarden's own garden. The choices will vary based on season, but the options will be plentiful and delicious. Not to mention the lovely dining room itself and the beautifully set table! I don't want to give out all the surprises, but suffice to say this will be a fantastic start to your day.

HOSTS: Again, nothing but rave reviews there. Hilma and Keith are such generous and gracious hosts, you'll feel like you are staying with very good friends. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them, and we felt so welcomed.Although we arrived very late, not only Hilma patiently waited for us , she was kindly gave us a farm tour the next day. We got to see 5 week old lambs!

The whole place just oozes love and care, and we can't wait to return!

“Another 'Dickens of a stay' at the Arvgarden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2010

We just returned from another visit to Keith and Hilma's wonderful B & B in Wellsboro. The Arvgarden has become as much a part of our Dickens of Christmas weekend stay as the activities in town. The house, set just a few minutes from the town, is a welcome retreat after a day of walking about amongst the shops and street vendors. As always, breakfast was delightful--with many authentic Swedish offerings. Conversation with both Keith and Hilma yielded additonal information about the area and the festivities of the weekend. We are already looking forward to next year--and a chance to return for Dickens (if not sooner). Returning to the Arvgarden is a bit like coming home...cozy beds, good conversation, and friendly people.
