“Great views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I stayed at the Chateau Resort the 1st week of June 2011. All I can say is that this hotel has an amazing view surrounding it. The resort itself was clea. The staff was nice, check in was quite fast. The buffet was ok, we stayed there 2 nights and the same food was served, so I wish there was a Bigger variety to choose from. The dishes weren't washed properly so that can use some improving, the outside pool was nice, the indoor pool had a strong chlorine smell but it was still nice, the jacuzzi was a little too small. The game room was nice, a little small but nice.
The rooms were clean..
Overall, the place is nice, and clean.

Shorty03_24-

Thanks for the review. We did address that issue with the plates and have changed our menu to be more accommodating with more variety.

Hope to see you again soon, give us a chance to earn another star.

“OK but Clean...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed at the Chateau Resort & Conference Center for a shopping overnight with my husband and daughter. I will start the review out by saying that I am a little picky about my hotels, but I am also fair. I will give you the good and the bad and let you decide. My daughter is a freshman in college, so we got a room with 2 double beds. Our first room overlooked the parking lot. I say first room, because we had to move rooms because our television did not work and they did not have anyone to look at it or fix it.

I was a little disappointed with the hotel rate because when I booked it, the website said we got an AMEX gift card to spend at the outlets in Tannersville, but the hotel said they stopped giving them out a few years ago. I wasn't about to argue because I got a good price and we were only there for the one night but it was a bit annoying.

Pros:
Check-in was very easy because the hotel was almost entirely empty. The whole first night the only other person we saw was the woman who checked us in. The room was clean although dated but we kind of expected that in the Poconos. I wasn’t expecting the Ritz. The room rate came with breakfast for 2 which was good. There was one other family in the dining room the next morning for breakfast. The meal was fine and included our beverages. The hotel is very close to Camelback and Tannersville outlets so if you want to shop or ski the location can’t be beat. Try and get a room on the slopes when they are making snow. It is cool to watch.

Cons:
The pool area and game room were down right scary. No one was down there and my daughter said it seems like something out of “The Shining”. Now don’t get me wrong, nothing bad happened it was just because it was so empty. It was a weird weekend to go in early December before the crowds. The Jacuzzi could fit about 3 people comfortably and was lukewarm at best. The room was dated and the remote in our second room did not work after going down to the lobby to get new batteries for it. I didn’t feel like going down a third time so we turned it off and called it a night. The towels were small and the pillows could use replacing. The furniture was beat-up and could use replacing. The beds were small and uncomfortable for 2 to sleep in. For 1 they would have been fine. My last complaint was that the bar was not open at night when we got back from shopping after dinner. We wanted to sit down and have a drink but I guess because the hotel was so empty the bar was not open. It was a little annoying.

There aren’t many choices in the Poconos and the hotel was clean. For the right price I might go back, but I am not rushing back there and to call this motel a “Resort” is really a stretch.

Room Tip: IN winter get a room on the slopes. It is fun to watch them make snow.

Dem 920-

Thank you for the review. A couple of quick notes since your stay in early December. We have recently completed our replacement of all the pillows on property. This was necessary and it appears you received a room with the old pillows still in them. Sorry about that.

As to the gameroom and pool area. It is ironic how some people perfer the solitude of our quieter season and some prefer the business of our high season. Next week (President's week) will be hopping. Then a month later, it is just peaceful. (or deserted as you point out...)

I appreciate your feedback and have already passed it along to the leadership team. Our goal is to take feedback like this and get better every day. Please do call me when you have a chance, I would like to say hello on your next stay.

Thanks again-

John

“Ski and Stay Package”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Our experience overrall went well. Very friendly staff at the front desk. Clean and bright rooms. No problem getting our ski passes at the front desk. Didn't eat the breakfast buffet they had as it seems to be slightly overpriced considering the options. You can find breakfast at the ski lodge which is conveniently placed about 150 yards away from the hotel at a much better price. We went during the weekday so it wasn't packed at all, the hotel or mountain. The wifi was lagging a bit but it could be just the placement of our room. A couple complaints but the good outweigh the bad.

“Filthy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

the good- nice staff, great view if you get the ski mountain view, flexible with late check out. Pet friendly but what I don't get is why is it that children are more destructive than my 5 lb dog, yet i had to pay 25 dollars a night extra for my doggie- who is cleaner than most toddlers LOL
The bad- very dirty- room wasn't made up when we checked in. When I asked for it to be cleaned, they did a half job with the beds and i don't know if they even changed the sheets, but it was sloppy. When I went to brush my teeth, the sink was very dirty with hair. I went to the front desk again, they cleaned it- but l figured they were cleaning the whole bathroom- late that night when I looked into the shower, there were empty shampoo bottles, used soap and hair in the shower. How disgusting! Then my friend found a worm in the bathroom. Halls dingy and dirty- dirty dishes sit out for a long time. I was told the head housekeeper was new. However, looking at many of these reviews, this seems to be an ongoing issue. The TV was OLD and didn't have a good picture at all.
The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. The walls were super thin. The food was mediocre. I could hear the people upstairs- it sounded like elephants were up there. This place should not be calling itself a resort, maybe a motel 6? I am not one to complain but seriously, just way disgusting!

Room Tip: ask for a mountain view on the top floor.

It sounds like we missed something serious while assigning your room. My personal apologies, your room should have been switched to a new (clean) room when that happened.

Please do feel free to call me so I can make it up to you on your next stay.

Again, my apologies.

Thank you for your review and your rating! I will certainly pass along your comments to the staff, they love to hear some of the positive feedback.

Yes, the construction of the building has the first floor with higher ceilings and the fourth floor has the lofted rooms, so they are very high. Please do say hello on your next visit!
