“Nice Hotel - Great Beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We ended up taking the room with the 2 person whirlpool tub - the only room that had something bigger than a double bed. The room was nice and large. We found the room very clean and stocked with all the amenities. The whirlpool tub was very relaxing after a number of days on the road - almost fall asleep in there.

There was an evening manager's welcome social party with beer, wine, soda, and a large crock pot filled with chile. They actually kept the beverage cart set up for us so we could grab a couple of beers and sodas. That was a nice treat - didn’t have to leave the hotel to find something to eat and it was free! The free breakfast buffet contained the standard HI Express buffet hot breakfast (scrambled eggs or omelets, bacon or sausage, and biscuits). Not a big selection - if you want that go to a Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans.

We really appreciate the firm beds at HI Express - but that is a personal preference. The free internet is a nice feature. The hotel is located next to the Reading Airport - never heard a single plane. We did have a little trouble getting to the hotel because of some road construction - not the hotels fault.

“Very surprised how nice and what a great value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Looking at the last review, I would say the bed was firm but not like a floor. I had a good night's sleep there. Our room was very clean, had a flat screen tv, fridge, microwave, coffee maker with regular and decaf coffee. I think the best part of it was the 2 person whirlpool tub where we could also watch tv. There was an evening manager's welcome social party with beer, wine, soda, and hot sandwiches. The evening manager was very helpful with all the information I needed including local restaurants info. There is even the Malibooz Lounge at the airport which is a short walk across the parking lot. The free buffet breakfast was good with more choices than I thought there would be. Another bonus was that the internet was free and if you forgot any amenities (bathroom stuff - toothpaste, toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, shampoo, etc.) they would provide it free of charge! What a great deal this hotel was. I will be definintely staying at a Holiday Inn Express again!

“Oh my aching back!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 April 2011

Reading isn't very big and there isn't much to choose from when it comes to hotels. A review on tripadvisor lead me here.

The PROS: It was clean, the room was neat and equiped with tv, wifi, microwave, and fridge. The bathroom was clean. Located next to the Reading airport in the 'better' part of Reading (the city's run down). Accommodated our request for 1st floor room. Breakfast we included in the price. The staff was helpful or not depending on who you talked to.

The CONS: No change at the front desk the night we stayed or the next day. Medicine dispenser next to the vending machine was "out of order" the two days we were there. Breakfast included eggs with some sort of plastic cheese, a rubber sausage and a hockey puck impersonating a biscuit. Stick with the bagels, toast or pancakes. (McDonald's could have done a better job. All of these things I could have overlooked if it wasn't for the bed. OH MY ACHING BACK!!! Trust me...sleep on the floor, you'll get a better night's sleep. This places wins the prize for the worst night sleep ever (and it didn't have anything to do with the yelling 2 y.o. in the next room at 11 pm). Really, why do we stay at hotels? To have somewhere to sleep!

“Nicer than expected (sorry Holiday Inn Express)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2011

Nice small hotel, near Reading Airport. Travel with friends and children for sporting event. The rooms were nice, comfy bed, CLEAN BATHROOMS! Did my usual mattress check when I arrived, everything looked good. Free Parking! Small fridge and microwave that we did not have any extra charge. Hyatt, Sheraton, Hilton charge for fridges and parking. Hotel staff was nice, had easy to follow directions to our event. Free breakfast daily was fine, coffee, tea, hot choc, milk juice..fruit, bagels, eggs, serve yourself, but it was nice to grab a coffe/tea and head out the door. Maid was good, extra towels were available as requested. Would stay there again for sporting event.

“A pleasant place to stay during our weekend.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

Me and my husband stayed here for our religious convention that is held in reading every year, and they have always accomdated us so nicely! this hotel has been very reliable on being clean, helpful, and a nice breakfast :) it suits us perfectly while we are in town for only three days, two nights. Not fancy but for being an "express" you will be pleasantly surprised! will always try to book this one first!
