“Hands down the worst motel ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

My family stayed for one night and it was the worst experience of our lives. We ended up with rashes caused by bedbugs or some other insects. The bedsheets didnt even look washed. The room was so small it had just enough room for a twin bed. The breakfast is a joke and is only coffee and old bananas. We are still suffreing from rashes caused by our stay at this dingy and dirty motel. I would recommend the city shut it down. Its that bad!

“Rate was about 1/2 the price of Erie and room was 1/2 the size”

A friend and I were attending a dog show in Erie for the weekend. Rooms in hotels listed were inflated due to Celebrate Erie event and summer season, so I found the Super 8 North East about 13 miles away at a about half the price but we would have to share a double bed. I made the reservation online and noted we would be bringing dogs. We checked in and unloaded our car. It had to be the SMALLEST room I have ever been in - a double bed, desk, end table and TV stand took up just about all of the floor space, especially after we set up two crates. Even the tub was miniature and the bathroom door didn't latch, but you could hold it closed when sitting on the toilet for a little privacy. Oh well, at least it was clean I thought. You get what you pay for.
We then walked our two dogs (yes, we ALWAYS clean up)....immediately, I got an irate phone call from office that we have dogs and didn't declare them. I said I did when made the online reservation, but she said I was supposed to CALL. She then said it would be additional $15 per/night and I had to pay NOW. When I went to the office she said it would be an additional $60!!!! I thought that was outrageous and she reduced it to $40....still way too much, in my opinion, for such a small room, but where else could we go?
I set my cell phone for an alarm, but it used up its battery searching for a signal and was dead by morning, luckily I woke up in time for the show. I tried to plug in the alarm clock which was attached to the end table but there was no way to reach any of the available plugs. The next night we requested a wake up call, which worked. "Breakfast" consisted of coffee/juice/milk, dry cereal, apples/bananas and muffins. We were tempted to check out the brand new Holiday Inn Express next door. Unfortunately, they don't take dogs.
Overall, the room worked for what we needed and we got some good stories to laugh about - but wouldn't stay again.

“Some Super 8's are nice...This one is not”

This was the only hotel with any rooms for miles around and it was obvious why. It seemed like one of those places that rent more rooms by the hour than overnight. The only reason we did end up staying was that we were exhausted from driving and still had hours upon hours to go on our trip. The rate was only about $60 with tax which still felt a little high for what we got. The room felt moist and musty, everything seemed to have a very damp quality. The bed was quite hard, the drawers were broken, and I've seen cots at summer camp that were more inviting than the roll-away bed that was in the room (So all three of us slept in the King..which wasn't bad). The ceiling sagged and had plastic paneling reminiscent of a trailer home. The bathroom was really the only place in the room that seemed clean. The AC worked fine but it was way up by the ceiling and hard to reach (found the remote later). I would never use the coffee maker they had...still had some coffee water in the carafe. The owners should listen to the previous reviewer and just level the place and start fresh...probably the only way to be rid of all the mold anyway. Needless to say I was very happy to leave. If all your looking for is the bare minimum this place is it...don't expect too much.

Room Tip: Theres a Holiday Inn next door, I'm sure they have great rooms

“Stay if you dare”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

The room looks like it hasn't been renovated since before the war. The carpets are filthy, the shower curtain is full of mold. The air conditioner is up on the wall and when it comes on it sounds like a freight train going through the room.

The stay is cheap but the old saying is true........you get what you pay for. We paid for 2 nights and checked out after one.

“Most disgusting motel stay ever - and I've stayed in a lot”

This place is really bad. Checked in without checking reviews (a big mistake but I was exhausted) and at first glance the room (#34) was very dusty, and kind of scuzzy, but I thought "how bad can it be for one night?" Answer - very bad. At 11:00 PM I was watching TV in bed and glanced over at the pillow next to me - there were bugs on it. At first I thought they were baby roaches. Went to the office, front desk person changed me to a way cleaner room (#12.) Woke up at 5:30 AM with an arm full of giant welts. Because, those were bedbugs, not roaches. Left immediately, office still closed, email to Super 8 resulted in a letter saying they would "pass on the info to the owner." Whatever, he doesn't care. If you do stay next door at the Holiday Inn Express, the restaurant adjacent is actually kind of good. But don't stay at this Super 8 unless you want to be scarred for life.
