A friend and I were attending a dog show in Erie for the weekend. Rooms in hotels listed were inflated due to Celebrate Erie event and summer season, so I found the Super 8 North East about 13 miles away at a about half the price but we would have to share a double bed. I made the reservation online and noted we would be bringing dogs. We checked in and unloaded our car. It had to be the SMALLEST room I have ever been in - a double bed, desk, end table and TV stand took up just about all of the floor space, especially after we set up two crates. Even the tub was miniature and the bathroom door didn't latch, but you could hold it closed when sitting on the toilet for a little privacy. Oh well, at least it was clean I thought. You get what you pay for.
We then walked our two dogs (yes, we ALWAYS clean up)....immediately, I got an irate phone call from office that we have dogs and didn't declare them. I said I did when made the online reservation, but she said I was supposed to CALL. She then said it would be additional $15 per/night and I had to pay NOW. When I went to the office she said it would be an additional $60!!!! I thought that was outrageous and she reduced it to $40....still way too much, in my opinion, for such a small room, but where else could we go?
I set my cell phone for an alarm, but it used up its battery searching for a signal and was dead by morning, luckily I woke up in time for the show. I tried to plug in the alarm clock which was attached to the end table but there was no way to reach any of the available plugs. The next night we requested a wake up call, which worked. "Breakfast" consisted of coffee/juice/milk, dry cereal, apples/bananas and muffins. We were tempted to check out the brand new Holiday Inn Express next door. Unfortunately, they don't take dogs.
Overall, the room worked for what we needed and we got some good stories to laugh about - but wouldn't stay again.
