“Finally....A very hospitable B&B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My fiance' and I stayed at the Wishing Well last week. We had the opportunity to meet the 2 new Inn-keepers Dan and James. We reserved the "Green" room and signed up for the special Valentines Day brunch served to us in our room! I have seen some of the negative reviews on this site and must say, "Nothing of this sort happened to us." Granted, we were not taken care of by the former Inn-Keepers, but the grounds were beautiful, the guest house cozy, warm and clean, and the service Impeccable! I would recommend this little hidden gem to any couple looking for a weekend getaway in a very cute little town!

Room Tip: The Green Room has exposed wooden beams, high ceilings, and a very welcoming feel. The bed was very...

“Never again”

We paid a premium price for the Cathedral room which was a dump.
Licenses and inspections are not doing their job at this place.
Check out the wiring passing through the mail slot in the front office
2 cheap extension cords powered the entire room, with one of them going through a door jamb.(As in the door closed on the wire in 2 places)
There was a spare heater we were told to use in case we were cold, but we were afraid to plug it into the 59 cent extension cord which was already connected to three other devices.

I am so sorry that these guests were not at the Wishing Well long enough to experience what others here have written. They arrived at midnight rather than their scheduled afternoon time, slept and left, apparently unhappy.

They were not there long enough to see that extra wiring is temporarily present because of holiday decorating and to hear about the history of 200 year old Inn as a mainstay stage coach lodging. They missed the welcoming tour from the innkeepers or the cheery socializing that takes place around the hearth. They missed the awesome full breakfast and helpful touring tips that we regularly offer. Or the personalized attention. And all the charm of being a part of a historic home. Instead, they briefky saw, and what they saw was focused on the negative.

I ask the reader to consider these factors when reading this review. On the flip side I see that the last two negative reviews have both been about the same room, so I need to really go in and evaluate the room. It has been updated with a flat screen/DVD and other amenities--which these guests were not there long enough to neither note nor enjoy--but perhaps some repainting and freshening is necessary and I will tend to that immediately.

Meanwhile, just for the record, the Inn is inspected and passed regularly, has been written about in travel magazines and Web sites, and has a history of celebrities that have often stayed for weeks. I hope that the reader of this will overlook the disgruntled guests and give us a chance to show you what a B and B experience is all about!

“Birthday weekend made even better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

This was our 2nd stay in 6 months at the WW. My gf and I came for our 1 year, and this past weekend for her birthday as she wished. We stayed in the Green Room, which was perfect. So cozy and inviting, I actually told her that the next time we came I wouldnt mind spending it in that room (although there are a few more we'd like to try out!) Vicky and Daniel, as always, were a pleasure to see and we felt so at home here. And the other guests were also a pleasure... If you want a "hotel" atmosphere, this isn't the place for you. This is an old, charming, eclectic home that seems to tell a story within it's walls and especially if you just want to feel relaxed and rejuvinated, this is the place for you. We can only usually do 1 night stays but when we DO get away from the kids for that 1 nite at Wishing Well, we feel as if we've been away for a week and never want to leave. The Innkeeper, Vicky not only had a beautiful breakfast prepared (which we sat by the fireplace in the living room eating Sunday morning..perfect) BUT she knew we were there for a birthday and had made cupcakes at my request for the birthday girl and had them ready by the time I needed them, even wrote "Happy Birthday" and her name on them. I couldnt have asked for something more perfect and sweet for the occasion. We cannot wait to come back again and hopefully it will be sooner than later. P.S. you can bring your pet, we have a very lazy hound we're thinking of treating to the Wishing Will someday, too!

Room Tip: The Green Room ..old..authentic..awesome high cielings..exposed rafters, exposed stone wall... roman...

“Unhealthy mold and cigarette smoke”

The innkeepers smoke in their portion of the house and it permeates the building. The house is poorly maintained and the smell of mold from leaks and the unvented dryer are overwhelming. The scented candles don't help.

“You can't go wrong staying at the Wishing Well”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

New Hope is a beautiful area in PA and if you are looking for an affordable place to stay while visiting, I would highly recommend the Wishing Well. I have know the owner for years which is why I chose his place. It is full of antiques and memorblia. It's an old home that comes with a ton of history. The owner will go out of his way to make sure you have a great time, even in the midst of a hurricane!
Stay there and you won't be sorry.
