“Wonderful Owner and a Nice Place To Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

My husband booked a weekend in Bucks County for my birthday. We arrived at our hotel around 4 to be told that there was no power and that the inn was closed. It was getting late and we had our 11 month old baby with us so we were worried about where we were going to stay. We frantically called all the hotels in the area (thank goodness for smartphones) only to hear that there was no vacancy or that they do not accept children. We finally found vacancy at Hotel Du Village. The owner was SO nice and just doted on our baby. Our room was ok but cozy. The halls were moldy and a bit outdated.
Overall, it is a very nice place that is in need of some care. It reminded me of places I stayed in Europe and I felt like we were somewhere different not just a state away. The restaurant is amazing with delicious food and great ambiance.
I am glad we found this place for it definitely saved our weekend. We ended up having a lovely time and I had a great birthday with my family.

“Just what I needed when I needed it”

Over the years I've had a number of wonderful dinners in the Hotel du Village restaurant (which is superb), but this was the first time I have stayed in the inn. I needed to be in New Hope for a family matter and had other family from out of town who joined me there. The owner was warm and welcoming - the perfect blend of helpful while allowing freedom for guests to come and go, using not just the rooms we reserved but the lovely grounds and the common area. Built as a girl's school in the 19th century, the property is beautiful and set back from any of the hustle and bustle of the area. At the end of a stressful day, it was wonderful to retreat back to the peace and quiet of the inn. It was just what I needed when I needed it. Thank you, Barbara!

“More of a bed & breakfast located away from center of town”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

More of a bed & breakfast than a hotel. Finding it was tricky because the main road was closed due to construction (which they didn't mention on phone) & it is not located on or near center of town but a few miles out of the way. Upon finally finding it (noticed the rusty sign at end of long driveway) it was tricky checking in due to there being several buildings with no office sign. Located office & rang doorbell several times & someone
appeared to check us in. This took place in the hotel restaurant which looked very quaint but was closed until dinner. We drove over to other building which was very old & our room had no tv or phone as website indicated, it did have fireplace. The room was dusty but ok other than that. At 9pm someone knocked at door & turned out to be someone staying in room below us who said "I hear people walking around & we have a 4 year old who is sleeping".... we were walking around room getting ready to go out, not even being noisy, just walking...hmmmmm. So apparently if any kind of noise bothers you this may not be place for you because the wood floors & thin walls can be an issue:) Anyway we waited over an hour for a cab ( there is only one cab co in town) I believe because it's really out of the way. There was a continental breakfast which was ok. The staff were very nice & hotel is unique in its own way but next time I would choose to stay somewhere a little more modern & closer to center of town.

“Nice Location for a Group Function”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2011

We attended a group dinner at the Hotel. The location, at the top of a small ridge, has ample parking, is quiet and removed from traffic. It feels private and romantic but you can drive into the bustle of New Hope in less than 5 minutes. The grounds were charming, full of flowering bushes and little vignettes with antiques and planters, etc. There is a small, intimate bar where you can sit before or after dinner. The staff was very attentive, the hors d'œuvres were very good and the main dish was delicious, well timed with the event presentation. We've never stayed overnight there but the dinner experience was very pleasant.

“Wonderful hotel”

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located near lots of Bucks County dining and shopping and the scenery is great. While not for those that prefer a Hampton, we liked our rooms and will return.
