“Well, I've seen worse...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

I stayed at this Quality Inn because there was nothing available in State College, PA. I'd read reviews here and was expecting the worst. It wasn't the worst, but it sure wasn't great. As a woman traveling alone, I was taken aback when the check-in person repeated my room number loudly in a busy lobby.
This is not a well-maintained facility. The cleaning people are obviously doing their job, but it's the deeper, really important stuff that makes this place sad; faded & worn bedspreads, chipped and saggy furniture, stained carpets (in the room and in the hallways).
But the mildew in the shower - and behind the door, in the vent, etc. - was really bad. Clean grout is important in a hotel.
The final nail in the casket was NO HOT WATER FOR A MORNING SHOWER.
However, the breakfast was delightful - waffles, oatmeal, cereal, toast & bagels, fresh fruit - you name it. And the desk staff that morning was exceptionally friendly. They offered to adjust my bill because of the hot water issue, but it didn't happen.
It's not horrific if you need a place for a night, but it wasn't any cheaper than better places around.

“Friendly Experiance.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

I stayed at the Quality Inn, Milesburg for about a week- with my family. Reading all this reviews it honestly blows my mind. The staff was extreamly nice, personable and accommodating. Housekeeping always left extra towels and toiletries in my room as they could see we were a family. The Front Desk was always polite and going above in beyond even when staffing seemed stretched thin and they looked a little overwhelmed. The staff gave us great idea's of things to see and do with the kids that aren't in those brochures. Breakfast wise a nice wide variety. Overall, I'd say good stay and I plan to go back.

“Convenient on I-80”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

We stayed here with my sister when we needed to head out two directions---east and west---in the morning. Just at the moment they are really full with oil shale crews so it's hard to get a room without an advance reservation. But the room was very nice and comfortable. I'd rate a good solid travel stop. The desk personnel were friendly.

“Very disappointed”

We had to take a quick trip to Erie due to a family illness. We don't like to drive all the way through so stop overnight going and coming. Coming home I searched for hotels on my phone and this location seemed good to us. I was told I would have a King room for $110. When we arrived we were told all the King rooms were full so they upgraded us to a King Suite going for $175 a night at the $110 price. Sounded good to us.

At first glance, the room looked lovely, but upon closer observation, not so. There was a huge whirlpool tub in the room and I would have never gone in it. It was dingy looking and very unappealing. The actual bathroom had moldy tiles all along the edge of the tub and the drain was corroded. I would not shower in here.

Then in addition, the TV was out of sync with all the channels. There was an older tube TV in the room, even though the lobby and breakfast room had flat screen tv's. The list of channels listed on the desk was totally wrong. Not one was correct, causing you to have to go channel by channel. We think there had been a high def flat screen in the room that broke and this was stuck in there instead and the channels were all out of synch. I would NEVER pay $175 a night for this room. Even the $110 we paid was way too much. When I went to check out the guy was going to call housekeeping and asked what room we were in. When I told him he said, "Oh, you were in the nice room." I hardly think so and would never stay here again.

“One problem after another”

We got off the Interstate expecting a Ramada Inn, as was advertised on the highway, so we were surprised to find the Quality Inn in its place, but thought OK, we'll have a slighty nicer room and experience, However, the Quality Inn had been recently purchased from Ramada, and was still under renovation. But this wasn't mentioned at check-in -- deither the recent purchase or the state of renovations. And since it was the only place near the highway, they were the only game in town -- so we didn't question the higher price for the room. The restaurant wasn't open (being refurbished). After dinner, we discovered that the remote control to the TV didn't work, and called the desk. They gave us instructions on how to reprogram the remote, and when that didn't work, came to do it. All to no avail. It never occurred to offer us a different room, or to just switch-out the TV & remote from an unoccupied room. Later we went to the pool which was very small, and were further disappointed that the whilrpool was only mildly warm, and jets weren't too strong. At 5:20 the following morning, the smoke alarm in the rook went off, and there
was no shut-off button, so we had to remove it from the wall, and remove the battery. When we checked-out a couple of hours later, we brought the alarm to the desk and explained what happened (so they wouldn't think we were smoking in the room and charge us a cheaning fee), and received an apology from the desk clerk. No discount on the room rate or other compensation offered. People checking out at the same time complained that there was an awful smell in their room, again nothing more than a verbal apology. Needless to say, they won't return either.

This was a particurlarly disappointing and costly stay at a hotel that should lhave been discounted at time of check-in with explanation that the property was purchased & in state of refurbishment. Then expectations would have been more in line with a budget hotel stay like a Motel 6 or Super 8, and people wouldn't have been disappointed in what they got for the price they had to pay.
