“Ripped Off!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2011

While driving from Ohio to New Jersey on March 6, 2011 (Sunday), I encountered a snow
storm in Pennsylvania and the Quality Inn Milesburg (formerly Ramada) was the closest hotel that I was able to get to. After arriving (almost midnight, very slow travel due to weather), I was told that due to the weather, the snow storm was still going on, there was no electricity on the 2nd floor. There was only electricity on the first floor, but all of those rooms were occupied. No electricity on the 2nd floor meant no heat, no hot water, no TV.

I am a AAA member so the rate was $72. Because there was no power, the manager only took $7 off for a rate of $65. To make matters worse, even if there had been electricity, none of the Ramada/quality Inn rooms have a microwave or fridge. Guests are forced to use a single microwave in the lobby and if more than one guest needs it, then they are forced to stand in line. RIDICULOUS! Due to weather conditions, I was not about to go out and try to find a restaurant with hot food, even if I could find one since it was almost midnight when I checked in. The manager told me that the regular rate was $80, and they had actually taken $15 off the rate. Again, As a AAA member, the rate would is $72 (not $80), so only $7 was discounted for a room with no electricity, no heat, no hot water, no tv. Later, I discovered that this ripoff hotel charged $87 to my credit card.

Quality Inn/Ramada staff took advantage of the weather conditions by charging a rip-off rate. On my receipt, I had the manager sign that I was being charged $65 with a $7 discount, even though the hotel had virtually no power on the 2nd floor where I was placed.

I've stayed in Motel 6 and Super 8 motels with rooms just as nice or better, at half the Quality
Inn/Ramada Inn rate that ALSO include a microwave and fridge in each room.

I contacted Quality Inn/Ramada and it took almost a month for someone to email me, asking for
the same information that I had already given them in my initial complaint. I responded
to the email again providing the information they already had and no response from them
almost three weeks later. Sent the same information again and still no response. Is this
how an establishment that calls itself "Quality" treats its customers?

Room Tip: Stay away from this hotel!

“Best thing I can say is that it is convenient.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2011

As several members have noted, there are several issues with traveling along I80 in PA. Not including the constant construction, there are relatively few hotel choices with "off and on" access to 80. The Ramada (formerly holiday Inn) provides easy access to the hotel, gas station, Subway and McDonald's - everything a traveler in central PA might want! During a recent trip to NJ, we decided that the snow was coming down too hard to continue and made a stop at the Ramada. As I said in the title, the best thing I can say is that it is convenient. The hotel is tired and a bit worn down. They were remodeling several rooms, but it seemed as though ours was still to be addressed. It wasn't the worst hotel stay I have ever had, but maybe that is because we were just happy to get out of the storm. We will return though - if we ever get caught in another snow storm.

“Very friendly environment!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

My stay at the milesburg Ramada was very comfortable. The staff is friendly and well mannered. I had requested a refrigerator and a microwave which came to me within minutes curtisy of the hotels friendly maintenance staff. In the morning I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast with the company of the breafast area staff. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again. I recommend this hotel to anyone who favors a friendly environment, and a comfortable atmosphere.

“Do not stay at the Milesburg Ramada”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

Granted, all accommodation options along 80 are overpriced. But $80 to sleep in a room that:

1) was supposed to be non-smoking yet reeked of smoke
2) had carpets that had been flooded over with dirty water and then dried out
3) mold
4) broken tiles
5) filthy mattresses
6) rude night reception staff
7) faces on to a truck stop and train line - lots of noise

How does this place stay in business? There must have been only 6 rooms occupied on the night before Thanksgiving when tons of folks are traveling through PA.

If you can, stay in Clearfield instead - the Super8 rooms are clean, staff is super-friendly, breakfast is better.

“This place is a dump”

We stayed here because we were going to a PSU football game and we wouldnt go back if it was free. It was truly a horrendous experience, starting with the old, worn out rooms, uncomfortable beds, moldy grout in the bathroom, and cockroach in the dining room.
