“Best accommodation in Perisher”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

There is no better accommodation in Perisher than the Eiger. We have stayed there 3 years in a row now and will definitely be back every year. We have compared it with other accommodation on the mountain and it wins on price, location, facilities, customer service every time. The Eiger has a real 'family feel' about it. The staff are friendly and helpful and make everyone feel at home. The White Spider restaurant is outstanding - from the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the amazing wine list, everything about the White Spider is first-class. Apres-Ski entertainment in the bar is excellent (although more of it would be good). For in-house guests the Cellar Bar is an after-dark must do. Intimate and friendly it's a great way to finish the day. When the snow is good you can ski from the lodge to the Quad chair without having to walk and even if you do have to walk it's only a couple of hundred metres. The Eiger has a pick-up service from the Ski-Tube Terminal and the driver is always quick to arrive after being called. We have never had to wait more than a few minutes to be picked-up. We also get taken back to the Terminal at the end of our stay. For the very best holiday in the snow there really is nowhere better than the Eiger.

“The Eiger is the best!!”

My family & I have been staying at the Eiger for many years now. It is the only place that I will stay at when I ski at Perisher. The location is perfect, just clip your skis on (during a good season) and ski straight to the quad chair. If the snow is good you can ski back to the front door (need a bit of speed though!). Is a great place to stay during poor weather days, as you can easily pop back to make your lunch (in your kitchenette) or change clothes etc. The Eiger lodge is perfectly located and magnificent in many ways. Yes it has been around for a while, but the rooms are extremely clean, comfortable and warm. The food has always been sensational. And the staff are always friendly, helpful and fantastic to deal with (including the front office, kitchen staff & waiters).
My tip is to leave your car at Bullocks Flat (catch the Skitube) and drag all your bags up to Perisher (the hard part of the holiday) ... but once you have been collected at the Perisher Skitube by the Eiger staff just "relax" and enjoy your skiing. The Eiger staff are the best and they will look after you (in fact the new staff in 2010 are just wonderful!). I have visited the Eiger 3 times this season and will be heading back this weekend. My children, their friends and my work colleagues all agree with me ... there is no other place to stay in Perisher! ps. love having a beer in the spa after a long day. The TV reception is very poor.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

We have just returned from our ski holiday – staying at the Eiger Chalet for the first time and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had seen the Eiger during previous visits to Perisher so we were happy with the location. You can ski from the front down over the bridge to the lifts.
Our first impression on entering the premises was its cleanliness and high degree of maintenance. I suspect it had been freshly painted and the carpets were spotless.
We received a very friendly greeting after a phone call and prompt over snow pick up.
We booked a standard double room and while we did find the room very clean and adequate for a ski holiday, the bed was a tad small (double –as stated, not queen size as expected) which did take a couple of nights to get used to. I would suggest when you book, confirm the bed size or request a twin room.
The White Spider Restaurant served a delicious breakfast each morning with a selection of cereals, fruit and a lovely cooked buffet.
The evening meals were, mostly, very nice and again the staff were very friendly and helpful. Some of the dishes were a little over flavored (Tandoori Salmon) - but others, like the Smoked Trout Soufflé was one I could eat every night. The restaurant is operating separately to the lodge so I urge you to settle your Bar Tab each night and not at the end of you stay as it is very hard to keep tabs on as there was no dated account. We found 2 bottles of the same wine were a substantially different in price and our bar tab was double that of our friends with whom we took turns in buying rounds and dinner wines. I am sure they will rectify this situation.
Pros: Delightful, friendly staff. Cleanliness. Location. Lounge/Activity room. Bar/Restaurant.
Cons: None that would stop us from returning next year.

“great position, great food.”

We have stayed at the Eiger many times, - it is a bit old fashioned and not luxurious, but has all that is required for a good ski holiday base. The rooms need updating and TV reception is woefull, but with comfortable beds and really really good food, we keep going back. There is a short ski or walk to the lifts - it's probably the closest lodge to the lifts. The front bar area is nice and cozy, but not flashy. There is a spa pool & games room, neither great, but ok. The Eiger has changed hands & was ok in '08 on last visit; we hope the standards remain high.
